Aidan SquireChairman’s Business Networking Blog, Thursday 25th September 2014.

16 members present and 3 guests; Chris Atkins of Print Solutions, Marcus Brown a previous member cleaning contractors and Toyin Ayandare a Property Investment Manager.

Congratulations to Kim for brining 2 of the 3 guests, both of whom made the right noises at the end of the meeting and hopefully will be attending next week with a view to joining.

Billericay Business Networking on 23rd Sept

Aidan SquireChairman’s Business Networking Blog, Tuesday 23rd September 2014.

Holidays well and truly over and 16 present.

It was inevitable that the meeting will be dominated by next week’s Visitor’s breakfast and hopefully, both by use of the Ed Slot and the 10 minute presentation, foundations have been laid for us to co-ordinate our visitor efforts. Team Leaders to collate potential visitors on Friday of this week with a view to a final count of check of heads on Monday so that we can notify the Golf Club on what hopefully will be a realistic estimate of numbers.

Congratulations on a good turnout, 21 in all.

A simple but important Ed Slot delivered by our worthy Education and Development Officer. It was something of a call to arms. We have two very successful and well run Synergy Teams which do raise a very useful forum for members to get more information about each other and improve the chance of referrals. Paul Booth chairs the Professions/Finance Group and Richard Reed the Business to Consumer. Members should try and attend one of these each month. Why not bring a visitor to the next meeting you attend.

Attendance slightly up on last week, 11 members present but not enough apologies for absence.

For further reference if you cannot make the meeting please make your emailed apology to Richard Willis. This will mean that it is not broadly disseminated before the meeting and if you make your apology late, Richard is always equipped with tablet or other device to put it to the meeting whenever it is received.

Not sure if it was the enhanced terrorist threat warning, or a massive pile up around Billericay. For whatever reason, numbers were an all time low this morning at the lovely located Burstead Golfclub.

Although numbers were low, spirits were high as usual. And as every cloud has a silver lining, we were not crammed in when we ate our extra full plates of breakfast.

In absence of Aiden, Brian Painter did a fantastic job chairing the meeting, and all went very smooth.

Thought we had 20 plus one visitor, Ed Crocker, former member who has sort of reinvented himself, however at 7.19 am, yes I was looking, Alan Shaw, like a ferret down a trouser leg, was in his seat, so we were 22 in all.

Paul Booth figured prominently initially. He was the runaway winner of the August Performance League and delivered the Ed Slot. His regular performance levels deserve attention by us as to what he says about our Group. His point today was the importance of Visitors, whether converted into members or not. It is important that we all are vigilant for new members. The more members the more business. This initiative is being pursued as I write this blog. May I add my voice to the encouragement for all of us to concentrate over the next few weeks on Visitors.

16 members present. An improvement on last week and there are still some of us on holiday. Indeed, I will be joining their ranks next week.

So it was the first Tuesday of the month, it was a training day, led this month by Brian Painter. As usual, dispensing with the Ed Slot and the 10 minute presentation Brian devoted his attention to the importance of visitors, how they should be dealt with at the meeting, how we should go about physically recruiting after the meeting and indeed how to approach them in the first place. This was all very theoretical, but the underlying purpose of his training message was to introduce us to our visitors open day breakfast which will be on Tuesday 30th September 1024.

Brentwood Business Networking meeting review – 28th Aug

Aidan SquireChairman’s Business networking Blog, Thursday 28th August 2014.

Once again, notwithstanding that it is holiday time, a good turnout, 21 members in all.

David Plumley delivered the Ed slot and rather dramatically called 3 volunteers. Now volunteering so far as our Education and Development Officer is concerned has its roots in the army, or at least the armed services. Stuart Smallcombe, Peter Hood and Richard Reed were therefore ordered to the front. The rest of the audience were asked to guess certain things about the 3 stooges. A recent screening of the Full Monty left Tina somewhat disappointed that nobody took their trousers off but generally David managed to get our attention and get over his message as to how we find out information about our fellow members to enable referrals to be made.
