Performance League
On the first meeting of the month of May, the performance league revealed an excellent April. In the region of £110,000 business passed; high scoring league as follows, Stuart Smallcombe with 462 points, Terry Maylin on 435 points and Sally Waters with 325 points. May has something to live up to.
Education Slot
Catherine Foley adopted an erudition and knowledge of language that was perhaps to be expected. She quoted Aristotle, not any modern-day character but the ancient Greek bloke. We should use all language carefully in getting to our businesses target audience to fully understand what we are about. Old Aristotle knew a thing or two. He urged the use of what sounded like The Three Musketeers. Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos requires us sharing qualifications and attributes with each other when describing what we can do. Pathos should involve us focusing the human benefits of what we are providing, and Logos should provide the argument as to why our services are needed. Failure to observe these cardinal principles will inevitably lead to tragedy…… Greek no less!
An uplifting start to the meeting
Membership Matters
Back to the mundane, but equally important report from Terry Maylin. Following Jane Malyon’s renewal last week there are three in the pipeline for this month, watch this space.
60-Second Presentation Round
Leann Reason got started so that she could thereafter concentrate on the assessment necessary to award the Oscar this week. Her message was the importance of trust. Her need to engage the trust of her clients if she is too help them make the most of her services.
We were into pithy explanations from other members of their value. Sarah Smith was helping a client anonymize documents and remove worries about what was a potentially complicated situation. Matt Barry was offering support in social media providing the tools to enable his clients to maintain brand consistency. Joshua Ayettey emphasised the value he could bring with problem solving. Scott Griffiths emphasised the value in partnerships both within the EBF framework or otherwise to help improve your performance for your clients and Toby Acton was explaining how he helped his clients to become more wealthy. Not only in a financial sense but in running a business that will helps them to be balanced in their lifestyles.
Further pithiness was exemplified by Stuart Smallcombe making metaphorical the benefits of his business by comparison with the insurance industry. You can carry all the insurance that you need but if you do not maintain sensible precautions to prevent the very thing that you are insuring against from happening it will happen anyway and you might well not be insured. Think about the provision of his services within this context
Dave Roberts repeated the importance of regular inspections for smoke alarms with a particular reference to landlords.
Sylvia Neveda went all metaphorical on us. If shops present themselves as clean, tidy and attractive they will attract more customers who will be willing to pay higher prices for their goods. She can enable businesses to present a clean and tidy image.
Paul Dulieu read from a very small note, but his message was slightly larger. His career change to celebrant has been truly rewarding and he should be aware from those of us who have used his services how effective he is.
Paul Booth apparently has several tutors on his books all with different areas of expertise. His most recent is a Spanish tutor. I suggest provides us with a list of those he has and we can all try and find other tutors to add to his collection… a bit like Toby Acton’s ducks.
So with all of these great presentations who was the winner of the Oscar? Well, it went to Shannon Sauvage. She emphasised the conversations with her and Clara for advice on the volatile current mortgage situation must be based upon the present situation. Geopolitical forces make their task nigh on impossible, but they can only advise ‘as is’ and it’s just comforting to know there is somebody who is adopting sensible approaches to their clients inevitable concerns.
Meeting Secretaries Report
There were 9 referrals this week and £6000 worth of business passed. It is an uphill start to a record-breaking April but there’s plenty of time going forward.
10-Minute Presentation by Blake Hammond
If last week’s presentation by Sally Waters appeared as good as it gets, then this week’s was as important as it gets. Blake Hammond delivered a compelling explanation and clarification of the use of AI., well presented with a judicious use of the television screen he very knowledgeably imparted the essentials and the importance of keeping data as private as possible by using A I providers that will ‘ring fence’ your data. Not only was Blake delivering an important message, but it was also a necessary one and in the quality of his presentation we should all recognise the importance of his skills to the group. Have 1-2-1s with him and help him assess your needs. You can’t afford to get it wrong!
Those absentees for whatever reason, missed an enjoyable and important meeting.
