There were eighteen of us this morning as we networked together prior to the meeting. The prospect of a heat wave brought out the granola lovers, but it is rather disturbing to note the sausage sandwich brigade are made-up of three white and only one brown.
Performance League
After the second week of the month Jane Malyon is out front 115 points followed by Paul Corrigan on 112 points and Catherine Foley with 107.
Education Slot
Rather usefully Scott Griffiths explained the intricacies of the scoring system that is used in the preparation of the performance league statistics. Commenting on this blog is one such activity that will earn you points but the suggested vendetta-like approach of marking down any comment should be resisted.
Membership Matters
Terry Maylin indicated that there was activity in the ‘membership pipeline committee process. no doubt he will have news for us next week.
60-Second Presentation Round
Paul Corrigan was advertising his air conditioning product whilst attired in both polo shirt and jumper. As the round progressed and he got redder in the face, the jumper came off and the need for air conditioning at our venue seemed fanciful.
Matt Barry commented by way of metaphorical reference to his company being able to think inside and outside the box with reference to the England match of last night and the metaphor was continued by Steve Chilton explaining the importance of operating as a team as is the case with his organisation. All this talk of metaphors and I haven’t even mentioned Toby Acton although he was very much pursuing a team theme. When you start off in business you have to do everything for yourself but as your business grows you should learn to both delegate and automate.
Mike Skinner produced statistics to support the importance of making video posts with professionally made videos. If you want to attract the clicks don’t do it yourself!
Clara Downton is seeing an upturn in the mortgage market but noted the complexity of some of the dealings she has with her clients who have odd requests and requirements.
Paul Dulieu emphasised the importance of love passing between those that he celebrates, be it for weddings or funerals. Terry Maylin was very much into tough love. A client of his who had failed to settle a dispute reacted badly to a proposal put to her by her opponents. Terry explained to her that the failure to settle the issue had a lot to do with her attitude and her reaction so whatever proposals there were on the table. Her initial hostility to the suggestion was finally acknowledged by her. Such acknowledgement of attitude can be a costs saver!
The Oscar however was awarded to Sylvia Neveda for her emphasis on regular and thorough cleaning which can prove to be next to godliness.
Meeting Secretaries Report
There were 12 referrals this week and £17,500 worth of business recorded which coupled with last week’s £20,000 Is making good progress after a slow start.
10-Minute Presentation by Jane Malyon
Jane Malyon laid before us a feast by way of an afternoon tea and with the assistance of Blake Hammond acting as Guinea pig. She proceeded to instruct us in the etiquette off the afternoon tea. An array of sandwiches, cakes and scones tested Blake’s appetites as she explained the nuances of where to stick your little finger when you drink a cup of tea to how you pronounce the dreaded ‘scone’, what you put on it and in what order. It was all wonderfully theatrical and there were even bits leftover, despite Blake’s best efforts, for others over to partake in after the meeting came to an end
Let us now bask in the warmth and sunshine until we meet again next week!
Great meeting today with a spectacular 10-minute presentation from Aunty Jane. All I can say is lucky Blake!
Surely the old gits should have been invited to guest as afternoon tea festivities.
We are pensioners you know !
Loved Jane’s 10 minute presentation and very happy to stand in as tea guest in the future!!
A great start to a Thursday!
Very jealous of Blake having all that yummy food this morning – great lessons in etiquette from Aunty Jane
Just another brillant meeting all round
