A different meeting this week as we paid tribute to former member David Plumley. Different in several ways in that; we had as guests former members, ‘Old Gits’ in the persons of Brian Painter ,Kevin Radford and Nick Cooke, that the Ed Slot was devoted to a remembrance of David by me and a 60 second round devoted to Dad Jokes in fond remembrance of David’s questionable sense of humour that gave birth to the also questionably named ‘humorous’ Bio Sheet that we all fill in when we do our 10 minute presentations. He bore his discomfort graciously and approached his death with dignity. Rest in Peace dear friend.
It was also a Greggs day and a day when Scott Griffiths had to retreat feeling very unwell. Hope you feel better soon Scott!
Performance League
One week in and Jane Malyon was out front on 100 points followed by Catherine Foley and Sally Waters both of whom are on holiday today and the field is open for advancement.
60-Second Presentation Round
Dominated by Dad Jokes and very little other substance Paul Corrigan stood out with an admirable display of all the things Solitaire can do with Gas, Oil, and Air and Mike Skinner the best Dad Joke which understandably I cannot remember and nor can anyone else except Terry Maylin who was adjudicating. David would have been proud of the mediocrity of the humour.
Meeting Secretaries Report
My multi-tasking knew no bounds and in Scott’s absence I was able to give the good news that we had 10 referrals (enough for a reasonable fan for the speaker’s prize selection but without Scott’s skill in producing it) and just in excess of £20,000.00 worth of business passed this week.
10-Minute Presentation by Member-Name
Clara Downton demonstrated why the Mortgage Brokers seat is an important one at EBF. As well as pitching for Lifetime Mortgages she set the scene for the comprehensive service she and Shannon can provide and even highlighted Mike Skinner’s production skills with video presentations from both her and Shannon
Referrals and Testimonials Round
A giving of referrals and individual remembrances of David wound up a quiet but uplifting meeting
