Holiday season is well and truly with us and 16 members in attendance reflected this. Those of us who were present enjoyed the sunny morning, lively company and breakfast courtesy of Greggs in Billericay. Paul Booth continues with the second of three bread runs to keep us fed. Thanks Paul
The Performance League
With the first week missing in the month 5 of us have currently made it over the benchmark of 80 points and Tina Walker is in the lead with 97 points
Education Presentation
Nick Cooke was this week’s presenter and his theme was both the advantage of taking notes to record such things as telephone calls and as aides memoire and that the ‘EBF jotter’ was the ideal tool to enable you to fulfil any such advantage. As an added bonus, it is fair to say that, the jotter is of a size that is capable of denying the existence of a carbon footprint.
The 60 Second Round
Rosemarie Driscoll was last week’s Oscar winner but was taken ill on the way to the meeting, so Toby Action stood in as adjudicator. Our best wishes go to Rosemarie.
As to the presentations, these were all of good quality and laudably good on the timing front. Toby Acton declared himself a trainer and a mentor and by way of further clarification confirmed that he both trains and mentors businesses and businessmen. A simple message but it is hard to criticise because we all came away with a clear impression of what he does. What more can you want from 60 seconds.
Brian Painter was off the cigarettes and on the phobias, flying in this instance. His high speed hypnotherapy between the hours of 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM WAS so successful his client happy to take to the skies the next day.
Melissa Jackson was insistent that the main focus of her insolvency practice was to help save businesses that were in trouble. Talking of people in trouble, john Hammond spoke of a lady whose business had acquired a warehouse who’s fire alarms were not compliant and that old appliances would have to be replaced. He was generous enough to point out that had the lady consulted me in the acquisition of her leasehold interest That this is something that would have been investigated. Thanks John. Talking about lawyers doing their jobs, Terry Maylin’s advice to a prison officer, bitten on his shoulder by an inmate, was that from reading the medical notes he will tell him to discontinue any potential claims as his careful reading of the medical notes revealed there was no direct connection between the injuries he has suffered and the biting in question.
Mike Skinner pointed out how effective animals can be in videos selling your own business. He is welcome to come and film my neighbours 2 cats who terrorise my vegetable plot. Portaloo or any other mobile toilet supplier (Scott take note) is welcome to take advantage of my garden.
Leann Reason tries to produced designs that do not require you to paint or otherwise decorate after a year. I assume this would be more necessary if the style was ‘Barbie house’ which apparently is a current trend. Nothing wrong with pink….. apparently
Jane Malyon not only uses her Secret Sconery venue for cream teas but also hires out for other events such as team building. What could be more inspiring than scones, cream and jam however you spell them or whatever order in which you apply them.
Paul Rogers was pitching for vehicle finance but James Humphreys pitch for buildings insurance was in the form of a warning not to under insure and the statistics were truly frightening and worthy of the award of the Oscar. Well done James, and consider during the week your obligations to be in attendance next week in order to present the Oscar to next week’s winner.
10-minute presentation by Tina Walker
Tina Walkers screen presentation threw up the interesting statistic that to engage her to work for you would be about half the cost of employing someone to do the same tasks. Of course the real reason to engage her is that she is very good at what she does which was well illustrated by the testimonials she received from the numerous people she had worked for in our group.
Referrals & Testimonials Round
Plenty of referrals and of course those of us who sang Tina’s praises made for an interesting and lively round.
Sorry to have missed the meeting, but Mrs G hasn’t had a holiday for a couple of weeks, so I was summoned for the airport run and doggy day care. See you next week

“When do we want them?” – “NOW!”
The Pads-not will be on strike until our demands are met….
