A foggy start to the morning welcomed the usual eclectic offering of banter for the early risers. The main protagonist being a real live reincarnation of Oscarina, Oscar’s cross-dressing alter ego.
In the absence of our glorious leader, his Obergruppenführer Scott Griffiths, stood in admirably.
The final league table of October proclaimed Matt Barry as the runaway leader, he accepted the virtual certificate in front of a virtual background of cascading virtual fireworks.
Terry Maylin’s membership matters focussed on Tina Walker’s renewal. He referred to her as the oldest member in the group. Brian may (not the Queen guitarist) have a few words to challenge this.
The ed slot was given to us by Howard Bullock, who warned us to be very careful when recruiting staff, as retrospectively, they may not turn out to be what you expected.
And so to the 60-second presentations. The winner of last week’s Oscar, Vincent Goode, kicked off proceeding by apologising for his rather wonderful range of business cards. When it came to awarding this week’s Oscarina, he focussed on who’s presentation was the closest to 60 seconds. Paul Booth managed 1:01, Howard’s effort was 0:59 and Matt Barry impressed us all with a magnificent 1:00:2!
Although Paul Dulieu sang a song, which usually steals the trophy, it was eventually awarded to an emotional plea from Blake Hammond, asking us to be nice to each other during this second phase of lockdown, look out for each other, and stay safe.
We are assuming it was Blake, as his hoodie and peaked cap shielded his face from us. It could have actually been Brian. Who knows?
Paul Dulieu treated us to a very professionally delivered 10-minute presentation, showing us content from his not yet live, shiny new website. After expertly fielded a couple of challenging questions he passed back to Scott who announced the referrals round.
At the “any other business” end of the meeting, we all agreed a Zoom social gathering would be a good way of cheering ourselves up. A date was set, and we all went off into the mist to enjoy the fireworks (which were a bit later, when it got dark).
Sorry to have missed yet another excellent meeting, hope to be with you next week. Have a good weekend.
Sorry for nipping off early (school run)..
Hope my ed-slot didn’t get anyone fired!

Considering we were on day one of lockdown, it was a decidedly upbeat meeting and, as always, a great way to start the day.
From memory I recall a rather humorous affair with a doll and some fireworks, well done all.
