Jane stood in as Chairperson for Aidan and did a sterling job. We were 18 in number a small but select band.

Performance League

The performance was a close thing with three people sharing joint second place and the leader ( absent today ) was Aidan so as he is away its all to play for.

Education Slot

Toby Acton took the education slot today and expanded on the education slot given by Paul D last week. The message is clear, Marginal gains are important, you don’t need to go big on changes.

Big changes don’t always seem manageable but small changes are manageable and do make a big difference. We are all resistant to change especially big changes which are outside of our comfort zone. Do something that is manageable and see what a surprising difference small changes can make.

80 Second Presentation Round

We had a stand in for last weeks Oscar winner who was absent today and that stand in was Stephen.

In order to make sure everyone was listening Jane decided that each speaker must then nominate the next one!

The highlights of todays 80 second round were Joshua who proudly told us about the coffee shop he has helped design and build in Chelmsford. Leann encouraging us to speak to her to help us be braver with colours. Shannon standing in for Clara told us how she is helping someone fight sickness insurers in his time of need. Tall Paul told us of the necessity to turn off your water when you leave you house for any extended periods of time and he has an ingenious electronic solution to turn it off from your smartphone ( don’t lose your phone!). Scott demonstrated how his several layers of security protect his clients websites so even if the baddies get through one, he manages to get their website up and running very quickly and with no real damage- trying getting that service from Go daddy.com . Dave showed us a neat plug in item to save your fuse box from catching fire!

Meeting Secretaries Report

Scott  told us that today we have passed £56k worth of business most of which was Stuart Smallcombe who is doing his 6 monthly catchup and there were 16 referrals today.

15-Minute Q&A Session

As todays schedule had to be rearranged  we had an impromptu question and answer session in which the members really got stuck into questions arising from members 80 seconds which is a good sign that the 80 second presentation have been listened to. Some great questions and equally great answers – it is always good to dig a bit deeper into peoples businesses.

Referrals and Testimonial round

We had a very lively referrals and testimonials round with plenty of referrals and money passed between the members as well as the usual off the wall comments  which help to make  makes EBF better than your average networking group !

Announcements

Jane announced a Business to consumer synergy meeting after todays meeting.

All in all an entertaining and informative meeting – we are so lucky to have people who have so much to share with the group to help us in our businesses as well as looking out for business for us.
