Now it is dark when we get to the venue and now, we also have to put up with rain. We can almost claim to be a hardy bunch, those 15, those happy 15 who got themselves to the meeting and engaged in the usual pre breakfast networking.
Performance League
Who else but Paul Corrigan is out front with 150 points. Terry Maylin follows on 138 closely followed by Paul Booth on 136
Education Slot
Paul Booth addressed us on the question of visitors. Not the need to attract them which is self-evident but the techniques to employ in getting them to the meeting.
The first problem is the early start. Turn the negative into a positive. ‘By the time we have finished you can get to work and not lose any part of the day’, ‘it will get you extra business without too much extra effort’! Once we’ve got them there, we seem to have a good conversion rate, if for no other reason than we are a relaxed friendly group and we do introduce good business to one another.
The second problem is to make sure the prospective visitor actually make the effort on the day in question. Contact them the day before having previously made the actual date clear to them when you are inviting them to attend. Indicate that their free breakfast has been booked and don’t mention the 60 second presentation.
As a presentation it was not without its guile, it was timely and made good sense.
Membership Matters
Blake Hammond has been formally renewed, and Dave Roberts is next in the pipeline.
60-Second Presentation Round
Steve Chilton was adjudicator and the first member he heard from was Paul Corrigan who was talking ‘heat plans’ and the alliterative ‘whole house healthcare’ which he twisted his tongue around with the same facility that you could flush a loo.
Paul Dulieu followed him and told of a wedding celebration that was a love story that he brought to life.
Clara Downton acknowledged that the market for mortgages is not at its greatest at the moment but emphasised the importance of consulting her early and getting advice if you are planning either a first-time mortgage or remortgaging down the line.
Catherine Foley emphasised the assistance she can give with personal statements and how she has been helping at a school with regard to these. On the subject of schools, David Rose put on his jacket/uniform by way of emphasis of the services he can offer schools when they need to move/store things when the likes of repairs are being dealt with over the summer break
Dave Roberts must win the prize of ‘prop of the month’. He set up with real lights a demonstrated of outside lighting and how a wireless connection can switch them on and off. As the nights draw in it’s worth a thought.
Scott Griffiths explained the organic nature of our websites. They’re never finished and he can provide an audit that will help you keep up to date.
Terry Malin and I did a double act……. Did any of you notice! Yes, it’s all to do with Employment law. The Tribunals are clogging up. You need to make sure that you have got your employees properly organised. Hearing dates are currently as far ahead as 2029 and that’s before the Employment Rights Act comes fully into force in the new year. Unfair dismissals can be claimed after six months of employment rather than the current two years. If they are clogged now, what can we come to expect as we hit 2027. TM Law can provide a comprehensive package of help, starting with contracts of employment to HR support to tribunal representation we offer a full package!
Howard Bullock was promoting the advantages of putting money in trust not only for Inheritance Tax protection but also to retain control of gifts made to recipients such as grandchildren. His weekly massage of Paul Booth interfered with the full presentation and he was timed out. Food for thought nonetheless!
Paul Booth himself is asking full new clients to be referred from retiring accountants. he’s had a lot of such inquiries recently. Keep your eyes open!
The Oscar however was a ‘shoe in’ for Matt Barry because of all of the trials and tribulations he suffered in trying to get to his venue in Amsterdam. Despite all who has flight troubles, it was an acknowledgement of team work that enabled performance whilst he was stranded.
Visitors overview
We’ve added a new section to the meeting. Now that we are targeting on certain visitors on a monthly basis, (this month jewellers and travel agents) it is an opportunity to report on any progress made by any member and a review of prospects being explored. Share with the group any opportunities you have found for the coming weeks. With Paul Booth’s Ed Slot you now know how to do it!
10-Minute Presentation by Silvia Neveda
This week we were treated by Silvia Neveda to not only the basics of what a professional cleaner can provide to their clients, but also a container of limescale remover each. Her own label no less. By running through the high standards that her company provide she was able to give us a good indication of how we can sell her business to potential referees.
A useful presentation together with the gift of something that we can apply to surfaces in our own homes.
Don’t forget Catherine foley’s breast cancer charitable appeal next week. Bring cakes, which will supplement what is due to be a ‘Greggs breakfast’.
Really good presentation today from Silvia Neveda, and the gift of Limescale remover for us all was very kind and generous. I’ve used it at home today and it is, indeed, very good.
Great meeting one and all!
Thank you so much for the bottle of limescale cleaner Silvia… Genuinely excited to use it lol!
Sorry to have missed your presentation, Silvia. See you all next week.
The small number didn’t take away from what is always a worthwhile meeting. Great tips from Paul B and an excellent presentation from Silvia, polished off with a very generous gift and dusting of cleaning puns.
Please remember your cakes, cash and pink gear for the fundraiser next week.
