There were 20 of today which is better turnout than expected with holidays and other absences. Scott Griffiths standing in for Aidan as Chairperson and Terry Maylin standing in for Scott Griffiths.
Scott kicked off the meeting in a fairly leisurely fashion and announced that we were going to give our respective 60 seconds by nominating the next person, which always ensures that members have to listen up.
On the membership news front, Terry confirmed that Chris’s application is almost through and he should be confirmed as a member shortly and we have a new application from Andy O’Neill which the membership committee will be considering.
Jane gave an excellent education slot using three members of the audience to demonstrate her point which was that with the help of Mike (aka Michaela, the frail old lady), Matt (the handsome partner of dreams) and Stuart (the best friend), she had an amusing story that illustrated the art of thinking outside the box!
On behalf of Scott, Terry gave the stats so far this month with the top 3 being Toby in first place and Matt Barry relegated to third place, a very unusual occurrence but there is plenty of time left this month for Matt to up his game!
The 60 Second Round
John Hammond demonstrated various different types of intercoms, some of which can link up to phone systems and even Microsoft Teams. Still on the subject of Microsoft Teams, Stuart Smallcombe told us how the phone systems that he can provide are able to link up with Teams but that he has a much better product than Teams which he can offer.
Vince Goode brought a splendid selection of menus which he produces for restaurants with one of them a steak house having a gold steak at £150!
Neil read out a testimonial from a very satisfied customer.
Scott told us about the smallest website that he has created with just one page but it allowed the owner to sell tickets and the fee was very small saving the client ( his daughter) a lot of money in transaction fees for the fundraising she is doing.
Our guest Andy told us that most companies do not have the water risk assessment carried out and that is what he can offer them to make sure they keep within the law.
A very lively and entertaining 60 seconds round and the Oscar was awarded by Toby to Neil as its always nice to hear good testimonials from satisfied clients.
Ben Golding then let us know who is speaking over the next few weeks and who is doing an Ed slot and then Terry introduced todays 10 minute speaker Ben Golding from Utility Warehouse.
10-minute presentation by Ben Golding
Ben spent his 10 minutes to explain ( from personal experience) how someone can earn good money from working for UW even on a part-time basis and that it is ideal for someone who has illness or disabilities which prevent them from regular work and can provide a very flexible way of working and earning money. In his 13 years working for UW he has worked his way up to group director and reaps the rewards of past customers who he still receives commissions from even years later, a bit like royalties.
Synergy Team Meeting
Tina Walker reported on the recent Finance and Professions synergy meeting at the George and Dragon Mountnessing , a small but perfectly formed meeting.
Announcements
Matt Barry reminded everyone of the Brentwood business event taking place today which he and Stuart are exhibiting at and everyone is welcome to attend.
Brian confirmed that the Crystal Maze social event is fixed for Saturday 13th April at a time to be agreed.
This successful and lively meeting concluded at a very reasonable 8-15 and there were a number of 1-2-1s going on straight after the meeting.
Well done everyone on making this a lively and fun meeting despite the absences and looking forward to the new applicants becoming members shortly.
Fantastic Education slot Jane.
Ben, you gave a brilliant 10 minutes, fantastic at standing in at the last minute. Especially when you said you put it all together last night, big round of applause.
Andy your 60 seconds was very enlightening.
Stuart, we need to talk more about teams and sips phone integration. I liked the sound of Aunty Jane’s picnic hampers for Ascott.
