A seriously dull and drizzly morning. whose only redeeming feature was that it is still light at 6:15 AM. Paul Booth was on the Greggs run. The food from Greggs is nice enough but certainly my sausage roll was not as good as the sausage sandwich I normally have. Hopefully back to normal next week. As well as wishing for a return of normal service I would also like to see a better turn out from those members who were not able to make it this week. We were 17 with one. Visitor, Julie Fitzpatrick. Interested in the seat that Brian Painter has just vacated. It seems to be potentially a popular chair and any replacement member would find us all softened up to the workings of the subconscious.
The Performance League
More than half of us beat the benchmark for the month of August. Out front, however, was Paul Corrigan first time winner who also appeared destined to do well this month if the referrals and testimonials round is anything to go by. He produced 6 referrals this week and quite rightly earned a round of applause.
Education Presentation
Scott Griffiths and myself hijacked this part of the meeting in order to launch a visitors initiative in order to help boost our current membership. As we move into the autumn there are double points for bringing visitors and securing members. and this will continue into October. Our theme was that we should be thinking visitors in the coming weeks in an effort to create the inevitable increase in referrals that more members will bring.
Membership Matters
Terry Maylin reported that he had spoken to previous member David Plumley who asked to be remembered to the group.
The 60 Second Round
Last week’s Oscar winner was Paul Corrigan. And he had the pleasure of assessing us this week. He heard Stuart Smallcombe talk about IBS. in the absence of Brian Painter. It however owed nothing to the bowel but Intermittent Broadband Services, which apparently can also be a pain in the ass.
James Humphreys banked his. 60 seconds to supplement his 10 minute presentation but this was immediately taken up by Chris de la Prida who wanted to explain that in the future he would be featuring different locations but that this week had a final great offer for Athens and Eos. On a dull morning. His 90 seconds was beguiling.
Mike Skinner had probably the best gig of all of us this week. Going to Cheltenham to get involved in the helping in the presentation to the world of a client’s Golf and Sports bar.
Ben Golding delivered both bad news and good news. Energy prices are going up, Bad News; Utility Warehouse has the cheapest fix rates around, Good News.
Vincent Goode, Mayor of Gants Hill Village to use his full title, was showing off a dual purpose box on wheels that contained banners all of which can be used when you have that location presentation, and all of which he can produce. He was ably assisted by the meetings regular stooge. Paul Booth.
Blake Hammond is persisting in looking towards Christmas for his clothing products. Until we get into October I refuse to make any further mention of Christmas in this blog of his products if they are in any way linked with Christmas. Far too depressing for this time of year! What we really need is to be comforted, and Jane Malyon fulfilled that role admirably with the description of her various teas full of carbohydrates as a ‘hug in a box’. Which delightful thought brings me on to the award of the Oscar which Paul awarded this week to Clara Downton for her description of how she deals with her clients, as going above and beyond the Call of Duty.

10-minute presentation by James Humphreys
The benefits of using a television as opposed to a projection onto a screen was once again more than amply demonstrated. A really well prepared and thought-out series of illustrative materials that did not produce also all the wording of his commentary made for as good a presentation as I have heard this year. And a demonstration of what we already know, that James can be confidently referred to third parties as well, as used by ourselves, as he extensively is.
Final call to arms, THINK VISITORS in the next few weeks. Let’s really get meetings not only well attended by members, but also by potential new members!
In my first week of being Social Secretary, I’ve managed to upset James by saying he looked tired, offend Julie’s husband and he wasn’t even there!
I jumped the queue and angered Vincent, thanked Ben for the ‘ed slot’ and he didn’t even do it. Can I just take this moment to apologise to all I have offended….. There’s only one way to go I suppose!
Great week, looking forward to next Thursday already!
And you called me short!
…. and sweet!
Classic! 😀
17 minute presentation in 10 minutes(ish). Needed to be recorded so we could watch it on slo mo! Thanks for listening and hopefully the sight of our very own Inbetweeners made up for the speed of the speech.
Well for Scott and Aidan on their Ed slot!
Nice work tall Paul in winning member of the month-I think me chasing you so close helped keep you on your toes !
Great first presentation James-you are a natural speaker 👍
An enjoyable meeting, well done Jimmy on your presentation, you even managed to make insurance sound interesting. Not dull, vibrant. Shame so many members absent, especially with a visitor, but I’m not going to have a moan, let’s celebrate the good things about this week’s meeting
A fun and informative presentation from our insurance guy, James. He was worried insurance was boring, but his presentation was not! I just come along for the laughs!!
Smaller but perfectly formed group this week and well done to James for his excellent and interesting presentation – loved it! 😀
Thank you James for an interesting and informative 10 mins… Your insurance life has had some real perks! Good Ed Slot from whoever did it…
They say old soldiers never die. I am having a last gasp. Good luck to all members of EBF. Kind regards Brian
