Last day of the month, last day of Gregg’s breakfasts (thanks Paul), last day of the holiday season. Members turned up to welcome in the autumn encouraged by the prospect of an induction for new member Blake Hammond and further anticipating what will hopefully be a successful search to replace the estate/ letting agents and mortgage broker slots.
Everything is not always what it seems in business and in life. Ben Golding explained the meaning of the other words that Neil Armstrong said after he had stepped onto the moon….. ‘Good luck Mr Gorsky’.
New Member Induction & Existing Member Renewal
As membership director Terry Maylin did the honours and presented book and badge to Blake Hammond. Welcome Blake and hopefully the first of a raft of new members anticipated.
The 60 Second Round
Leann Reason and her wonderful world of colours was this week’s Oscar holder and judge for the morning. She generously only took 30 seconds in her presentation thereby leaving the door open for a Brian Painter ramble which he duly grasped with both hands. An 68 year old former head mistress has panic attacks when flying out on holiday but not when flying back. Whatever could have triggered that reaction?…… Watch this space.
Nick Cooke was all beams and steel beams as he reminded us the part that he can play in altering living accommodation whilst Stuart Smallcome reminded us the cheap and cheerful will just not do when businesses are contemplating their Internet connection and in a similar vein Mike Hickson warned of the business that had senior personnel meddling with the IT system. The message from both was go to someone who knows what they’re doing, it’ll save you a lot of money In the long run.
Terry Maylin asked us all to look out for businesses that need his debt collecting services. Effectively a loss leader it does give TM Law an introduction to new clients for which they can provide many other services. John Hammond was also acknowledging how referrals from existing clients can be the most effective way to new business.
Blake Hammond offered a much more exciting prospect, he was inviting us to gear up for the battlefield. He’s got a 10 minute presentation the week after next and you need to be there to learn more of exactly what he is offering.
Jane Malyon is back from Las Vegas, courtesy of Rosemary Driscoll, her shirt and all other items of clothing fully intact. She still has a table available, but only one, for her 23rd September tea party, book now to avoid disappointment!!
Leann is always a sucker for a bargain and so her award this week was to Ben Golding for Utility Warehouses bargain boosting burst…. Or something like that. Well done Ben
10-minute presentation by Melissa Jackson
Melissa showed us her team……. well almost! And then went on to help demystify and take the fear out of the insolvency services that she can provide. A business experiencing difficulties, temporary or otherwise, will always benefit from an initial referral to her. Let’s try and find her some. And by the way, she has a dog called Wilson.
