Glorious sunshine, 21 people in attendance, what’s not to like!
Performance League
After three of this month’s meetings Stuart Smallcombe is well out front with 412 points followed by Terry Maylin on 391 points and the absent Auntie Jane on 289 points. Not much more to play for this month but we will know the monthly totals next week.
Education Slot
Scott Griffiths stepped in at the last minute with a reprise of a presentation that he gave several years ago. Time however had in no way diminished its relevance. Scott advocated that we all devote ourselves to an EBF Power Hour on a weekly basis. During that hour you consider three areas of your membership.
- You review the blog and the video and focus on referrals from previous weeks. You follow up on referrals that you have received or given and you consider referrals that you can make.
- You review the list of potential visitors that would be appropriate to yourself in particular but also obvious vacancies that have arisen and check your own contacts. A weekly review of possible visitors by all of us would be helpful. No, not helpful….. essential!
- You plan 1-2-1s with members that you have either not previously interacted with or you have not reacted with for some time.
Despite its age Scott’s presentation was totally up to date and a very necessary reminder to all of us.
Membership Matters
Terry Maylin was able to report that despite her absence on safari Jane Malyon’s membership has been renewed full another year. Let’s hope she is not confronted by anything too frightening as she explores the veldt.
60-Second Presentation Round
Terry Maylin was our Oscar judge this week and he got us underway with a warning that today is the last day that landlords can seek repossession through a section 21 notice. The new system that is being introduced after today is something landlords are encouraged to pursue for their own benefit by doing things like.. consulting Terry.
As if stimulated by the education presentation Mike Skinner also dug up an old presentation whereby he demonstrated the importance of videos to all current businesses big or small, they all use them…..
Sarah Smith has been to the English Riviera but not on holiday. She is involved in the sale of 37 houses in the Torquay area. This is perhaps a reminder that we need to find her work closer to home.
Toby Acton urged us and all businesses to make sure they were not properly aligning themselves and working all hours without such effort being suitably focused. His solution was the three M’s….. Motivational Mapping and Mentoring to make sure that you are fully focused and make best use of your efforts. Catherine Foley however is fully focused at the moment helping her students in their search for a university. She can help with those important personal statements that are so fundamental to their applications.
Some members have been the guests of Steve Chilton at Brentwood Football Club where he and his company are getting involved with the local community. He hosted several members at a recent match which seemed to have gone down well with all concerned.
Stuart Smallcombe was this week emphasising his VoIP telephone services that can facilitate picking up the phone and actually talking to people. Whether you are a substantial user or just a one of his smaller customers everybody gets the same package and benefits
Joshua Ayettey was back with us explaining how conservatories can be replaced with extensions if all that glass is making you too hot in the summer and not warm enough in the winter. Talking about people being back with us, Howard Bullock has completed his sabbatical. He attended the finance synergy team meeting earlier in the month and he was back with his 60 seconds today explaining something of the structure of the advice that he gives on investments when looking at both ISAs and the investment of substantial lump sums.
Dave Roberts this week pitched for people considering a battery storage system that will save you energy costs at this difficult time by storing power cheap rate times of the day.
However, pride of place this week went to Leanne Reason. She helped a client at her wits end following enforced reorganisation of their property after a substantial leak and the subsequent confusion. She was much relieved by Leann’s intervention with advice and suggestions which not only took the pressure off her but enabled her to move forward in an organised way.
Meeting Secretaries Report
As the month draws to a close, we are looking at business recorded in excess of £110,000 as well as the many referrals that have been spawned.
10-Minute Presentation by Sally Waters
Sally Waters was more than thoroughly rewarded for the hard work that has gone into this week’s presentation. She designed a demonstration of making a candle with two volunteers dressed up in aprons and white gloves reminiscent of the Black and White Minstrel show. It didn’t stop there though, various groups were tasked with producing description, marketing , general promotion of the product which had a very pleasant coffee scent and in doing so thoroughly engaged the whole meeting. Terry and Shannon where the two Guinea pigs who performed admirably. Everyone was engaged in what may turn out to be the best 10 minute presentation of the year.
Fab 10 minutes Sally, chaotic, educational and fun, perfect combo!
Fun meeting all round, see you next week!
A really excellent meeting – Sally has the set the bar very high for future presentations!!
Gutted wasn’t there to see Sally’s 10 minutes… Sounds amazing!
Great 10 minute presentation Sally thanks for putting a lot of effort into that. Lets all get out there and get Sally the referrals she is looking for! Good reminder Scott to set aside just a little time each week to EBF thinking!
