Spring has definitely sprung. We all enjoyed the experience this morning of setting off in daylight. We were further blessed by the sun blazing in to the windows and Blake Hammond, who’s 10 minutes had come round was hampered by the brightness in what was a screen based presentation, although he came well equipped with screening to restrict sunlight. We were also blessed also with 20 attendees one of which was Chris Whittle who has applied to join us for the builder’s slot and very welcome he is too.
The Performance League
Scott Griffiths gave us the scores after three meetings which included Tina Walker with 182 points, Matt Barry with 208 points the top of the tree was Toby Acton with 230 points
Education Presentation
Almost seamlessly Scott Griffiths re-addressed the meeting as this week’s presenter. His subject matter was the Performance League with perhaps a necessary reminder to existing members and information to new members of how it is made-up. Useful!
New Member Induction & Existing Member Renewal
In Terry Maylin’s absence I was able to announce the application for membership by Chris Whittle which drew understandable applause. Nothing to do with my presentation but the fact of the application.
The 60 Second Round
Stuart Smallcombe was first as this week’s adjudicator. Open reach have 90% of the market in Internet services but there are small providers which he uses that can provide a better service.
Brian Painter produced something of a cliffhanger. A 68 year old lady who exhibited fear of flying when setting off for her destination but not when flying back. This is clearly a different type of anxiety that Brian will be exploring in the future. Watch this space!
Scott Griffiths has gone international. This week he acquired a client in Australia and one in the USA. This departure from his usual 30 mile radius has the potential to make him a global phenomenon. As with Brian Painters presentation immediately before Scott’s, watch this space!
Vincent Goode, cheerful in theme as always, was promoting his Order of Service service. He showed us funeral booklets and rather posh tribute booklets. If you are sufficiently immodest to want one, rather than relying upon your executors to do this for you, I suggest you change your will. I’m sure I can help. Whilst on the subject of printing, Toby Acton’s subject matter was in praise of the Mayor of Gants Hill Village in relation to the rather fine business cards that he produced for him. They are apparently soft to the touch, expensively curved at one corner, as well as highly informative and were much admired in the recent networking events that Toby has attended.
Reasons to be cheerful arose from Clara Downton’s presentation, with the message that the mortgage market is stabilising and spring appears very much in the air.
Matt Barry mentioned ‘doulas’ and I was reminded, apparently I was the only one, of a TV Advert of some years ago, the Esso (Blee Dooler) Blue Dealer. Despite all of your denials I expect someone to own up!
In his consideration of the award of the Oscar, Stuart was mindful of a theme that played through some presentations, namely how you can make relatively easy referrals that can lead to much more for our members who get involved in testing. These included Blake Hammond, John Hammond, Paul Corrigan and Dave Roberts. He is now one of our more senior members and so it was perhaps unsurprising that he awarded the Oscar to Dave Roberts who was sitting next to him. Economy of movement has always been a hallmark of the ageing Naughty Corner.
This weeks statistics and points of note
13 more referrals again this week and £6000 worth of recorded receipts. It promises to be a successful month.
10-minute presentation by Blake Hammond
Probably the newest business in the group. Blake’s enthusiasm was matched by a comprehensive display of his products and further matched by an advertisement like voice over screen presentation and later action footage from Blake, John and other EBF members illustrating what lengths some people go in the search for enjoyment. A really well worked and different presentation about the Ammo Hive Airsoft and Outdoor Equipment business was understandably well received by members. https://ammohive.co.uk – go check it out…
Referrals and Testimonials
It was something of an obstacle course of Blake’s own making that made this round even more entertaining as the paper was passed round the members. With the sun streaming through the windows everyone left in upbeat mood.
Well done Blake. Such hard work and time put into today’s presentation. A real contender for the prize next February.
Great meeting this morning, I am still buzzing! Perhaps the amount of coffee I’ve drank lol! Loved Blakes 10 mins, rapidly becoming a legend in my eyes!
I enjoyed this meeting, especially as I was in a prime position to watch Stuart’s copious notemaking as this week’s Oscar judge. I think he was using invisible ink because I couldn’t actually see any notes. Note to self: sit next to the Oscar judge next week.
Nice one Blake, great fun presentation and great store generally!
Good meeting all round!
Now to downvote everyone else’s comments to get myself up the leaderboard!
I’ll downvote yours just to even things up 😀
Thank you all very much for sitting through my 10 Minutes. I hope you enjoyed it. 🙂 Well Done, Tall Paul, for winning the speaker prize.
It was fab! Such fun and so well put together!
Wow great 10 minutes Blake another enjoyable meeting and great to see builder Chris back and is joining our fab group. That’s Scott fir the Ed slot
Thank should have said Thanks Scott for the Ed slot
Certainly an entertaining 10 mins from Blake about Airsoft and “I’ll be back”
A great meeting and an awesome 10 minute from Blake. Airsoft looks so cool! My only interaction with a gun is NERF! and I think I’ll stick to that but I will certainly be telling everyone I know to give it a go, especially against the Honey Badgers!
Great meeting and cracking 10 minutes from Blake. May be moving seats next week as slightly worried about how excited Tall Paul was holding the various weapons!
Ha ha! You’re safe mate!
what a graet 10 minutes Blake. Awesome video. The Honey Badgers rule!
Excellent presentation Blake, well done.
Great presentation, Blake.with extensive visual display and a thundering video. We also managed to play with the toys! I wonder who is presenting next week?
Another brilliant meeting. It is always nice to meet up with everyone on a Thursday. It is wonderful to see that Chris has applied to be a member. It will be great to have a builder on the EBF team.
What can I say about Blake 10 minutes apart from it was fantastic and any member who was not there should watch the video.
If you have not been to an EBF meeting you should do so. A great bunch of people and a lot of business passed between us all.
