Now that it is getting lighter in the mornings, for example it was light this morning when I set off from home at 5:40am, people are finding us more easily. Not only are more members getting to us but visitors are finding us as well. This week we had 24 in all, including first time visitor Chris Whittle.
The Performance League
Only two weeks into the month and four members had already amassed in excess of 100 points; Matt Barry, Howard Bullock, John Hammond and top of the tree Toby Acton with 213 points.
Education Presentation
It was the turn of our very own Mayor of Gants Hill Village who addressed us upon how to make a success  of networking. The starting point must obviously be to attend meetings and where it is not your own networking group research the event, find out who’s going, don’t do an obvious sales pitch and let the other man speak. Introduce yourself Business Card at the ready and make sure you follow up on contacts made. Simples!!!
New Member Induction & Existing Member Renewal
We started with an induction, Chris de la Prida now occupies the travel seat. After Terry Maylin had performed this particular ritual he was also able to announce that Andy O’Neill had applied for membership and we might well be having another induction next week.
He also was able to confirm the consideration of certain members who have come up for renewal. Again, no doubt more information next week but it all represented very positive news as we move forward.
The 60 Second Round
Just about the only member not present was last week’s Oscar winner, Neil Bellham but Paul Booth stood in for him and kicked off the round.
He was followed by Chris de la Prida who reminded us that Southend airport was now fully functioning and should be considered as an airport of choice when we are travelling abroad. If holidays help improve your quality of life, so does Brian Painter in helping you tackle your anxieties, phobias and other such problems.
Fortunately James Humphreys is no longer looking for burly scaffolders but now he’s turning his attention to fleet cover for businesses with three or more vehicles. His message also came with a warning of low stocks in blood supplies where often motor accidents create demand. We should consider giving blood.
Mike Skinner will always employ his drones to create an effect but he’s looking for good quality video making where he can be stretched. An example of showing the process by which suits are made is a typical instance of how he can help illustrate the nature of your business in a professional way.
Success story of the week must be Terry Maylin who successfully negotiated a serious personal injury claim from an initial £25,000 to in excess of £600,000. The moral of the story is, do not negotiate with an insurance company without the assistance of a solicitor with the experience and tenacity of Terry.
John Hammond always brings common sense to his business and in this instance he was explaining how testing fire alarms at night can shed light as to the effectiveness of the testing process and whilst we’re on the subject of testing, Dave Roberts was once again pointing out how providing his testing services for electrics can be a good intro into follow up work.
Blake Hammond is clearly rejoicing at the prospect of spring and the great British public’s potential obsession with camping. He has the availability of suitable camping gear to fuel this obsession. Check his website for various types of equipment he has available.
It did not go unnoticed that Paul Booth awarded the Oscar to fellow Naughty Cornerer  Stewart Smallcombe for his work with the Chigwell Riding Trust in sorting out their telephone system although it is fair to say that it was well deserved.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Once again, another good news story for the meeting. With today’s contributions business recorded for this month falls just short of £40,000 to date and today we had a very respectable number of referrals, namely 20.
10-minute presentation by Aidan Squire
It was my turn this week and I confess to resorting to shock tactics. I frequently bang on about the importance of making a will and today I produced a couple of case studies which seemed to get the sphincter muscles of various members leaping into action or so it seemed from the interest shown in having wills reviewed. I am of course happy to oblige  It is also typical of a good turn out that there is lots of running to do in the following Referrals and Testimonials round.
Synergy Team Meeting
As if you hadn’t had enough by 8.30Â Â eleven of us attended the business to consumer meeting chaired by Jane Malyon.
All in all perhaps the most inspiring meeting of the year so far
Great meeting, good to see so many faces including new ones!
Brill 10 minutes Aidan, less brilliant use of the term sphincter muscles in the write up
Well done Aidan on an excellent 10-minute presentation about just some of the reasons why people should have a will and what can happen without one!
Good to see Andy again and hopefully our guest Builder will consider joining our merry band!
Ha ha, sphincter muscles being leaped into action! A phrase I never thought I’d hear lol.
Thank you to everyone for another great morning
Good to see so many at the meeting this morning. Great meeting thank you Aidan, see you all next week.
We have oft said that the bigger the attendance the bigger the buzz and today was no exception. A very educational presentation from Aidan which produced an avalanche of questions.optimistically, Chris the builder will join. Have a great weekend.
What a buzzy meeting! After Vincent started us off with inspiring style, I thought every single 60 Second Presentation was fabulous. Great to see new Chris as well as newly joined Chris. Aidan’s 10 Minute talk was super-interesting too and sparked a billion (tiny exaggeration) responses đŸ˜€ Lastly, cheers for attending the Synergy meeting which was supportive and enjoyable in equal measure. Yay!
Great meeting as always and nice to see another visitor, great 10 Minutes from Aidan, and its scary if you haven’t done a Will. Great ed slot from Vincent see you all next week.
It was a fantastic meeting today.
Your 10 minutes Aidan was enlightening on the pitfalls of getting a do-it-yourself or a cheap writer to write a Will. It takes a skilled and experienced person like yourself to make sure there are no abortuaries. Because you can not fix it when you are dead.
Just a note on my 60 seconds it was testing of emergency lights you can not carry out in daylight because how can you test to make sure the light produced by the emergency lights meets the British Standard requirements? . This could be due to the age of the unit or the building use or design has changed slightly.
See you all next week.
Aidan’s best yet!!!
Another uplifting meeting with excellent contributions from Aidan and Vince
