The first meeting of a new month occurring on the first day of the month is hopefully a portend of a good month. 18 bodies were in attendance including one visitor In a holiday stricken meeting. As a meeting however it was not without its interest. Matt Barry loves it and Ben Golding doesn’t know what it is… yes I’m talking about frangipane. Read more later.
The Performance League
The month of July produced Howard Bullock as the month’s winner followed by many who had breached the 200 points mark including Toby Acton second and Matt Berry third.
Education Presentation
It was back to basics this week. Scott Griffiths’ subject matter was very much part of the reason we all turn up on a Thursday morning….. the referral. He set out to re-educate us on what was and what was not a referral; if it is not internal and it does not involve a third party it will be a lead rather than a referral. It’s importance to the group is fundamental and to receive a lot of them can be the key to success. From the group’s point of view, there is a testimonials and referrals round to celebrate them and the website to record them. The latter is of great importance as along with the thanks for the money they represent core information in the assessment on an annual basis of the success of our group. Just because it’s relevance might not have stopped you from stifling a yawn, knowing how to produce them must be the goal of all members.
The 60 Second Round
Clara Downton was judging this week by virtue of the success of her sub last week.
Following Clara, Brian Painter needs replacements for current clients that he has recently successfully dealt with; namely, a smoker, the driver who didn’t like roundabouts and a nervous public speaker. Let’s see if we can oblige. Toby Acton is always looking for replacements or additions. As the Mr Motivator of the group he is not involved in simply the process of motivation but also measuring it in various ways. He kept talking about drivers but I don’t think it was intended to refer to those people who find roundabouts difficult unless one is viewing it metaphorically.
Stuart Smallcombe has a client that he will have to dig ditch for in order to deal with additions to the school buildings that have been made without a single data point present. His message was, get them in early!
Mike Skinner produced a presentation that was most notable for his use of props, in particular the teleprompter.
Paul Corrigan responded in his 60 seconds to the very hot weather we are currently experiencing. Air conditioning units in an office do not attract VAT and they are relatively easy to finance. What an opportunity!
Vincent Goode needed to use the services of Paul Booth to unfurl his big banner. The suggestion implicit in his presentation was that we could all do with one. If you can think of a way in which a banner can be used there’s a referral waiting be made.
Terry Malin confirmed that he has a couple of clients who have got their court applications for possession wrong and that is very easy to do. Don’t let anyone you know do it themselves. Refer them to Terry. It is a cost effective process which will save them a lot of aggravation. Talking about aggravation. If you’re having problems converting visits to your website consider live chat and consider consulting Scott over dealing with this in conjunction with your website.
Ben Golding was this week’s Oscar winner with a theatrical use of a 1p coin
This weeks statistics and points of note
Looking back on July, Scott presented a picture included £81,000 worth of business written and 43 referrals. He also mentioned difficulties being experienced by members logging into V forms. He is looking into it and by way or further clarification he gave a formula for getting in anyway which if it involves a security breach I will not mention it here. If I’m being over cautious no doubt Scott will correct me in a post to this blog
10-minute presentation by Matt Barry
The important thing was that Matt Barry is highly appreciative of his wife’s frangipane and that as Ben Golding had never heard of it he will try and arrange a sample. Given that Ben is the amazing shrinking man and only eats very small portions it shouldn’t be a problem?
Equally important of course was Matt’s presentation. He produced an illustration via a television screen of precisely how he deals with clients in dealing with the design and presentation of the business. What it did clearly show was his level of inclusion of his clients reactions and views as the product was being put together showed the quality of service is such that we need have no concerns about recommending him to any level of business that will be assured of the highest quality.
For those of you who were not at the meeting I hope this blog gives you not only an insight into what occurred but will be stimulus to turn up next week. While we have legitimate absences because of the school holidays whatever can be done to boost attendance for those not on holiday should please be a priority.
Excellent presentation Matt – I love working with you and your team.
Well done Matt on a very professional presentation – we would expect nothing less. And a good reminder from Scott as to what does and does not constitute a referral. Nice to see a visitor and hope we see him again with an application to join us.
Great presentation Matt! Can’t believe Ben’s 1p coin beat my teleprompter. Gonna have to up the props game next time!
Great meeting and good to see a new face (though I have no idea what he does still)
Great meeting this morning with loads of energy in the room!! Fab Ed slot from Scott and awesome presentation from Matt!! Will definitely be trying frangipane!! Though apparently Matt’s wife makes the best!!

great meeting and I always enjoy presenting my 10 minutes. Wasn’t expecting to be getting Mrs B to make a load of frangipane as a result of the meeting. I’m not complaining though!
Great meeting as always!
Hope my 10 minutes if half as good as Mr Barry’s!
