It was very cold this morning, -9°C in some places, but eighteen of us turned up with Paul Corrigan our plumbing and heating engineer, having been approved full membership, all ready to go. He will be inducted next week. An excellent start to the New Year.
The Performance League
A good start by members to the call to arms regarding the electronic recording of data. The performance league table reflects this. Of all people Nick Cooke was out front with 240 points. Scott Griffiths followed with 150 and Neil Bellham with 149.
Education Presentation
Vincent Goode was the presenter this week and it was a fitting subject from the man who produces orders of service for Funerals. In short we should count our blessings as we move forward into a new year. I think he managed to effectively summarise most of the woes current to our planet but if any were missing he should consider himself forgiven. Accurate if sobering.
The 60 Second Round
For Naughty Corner led by Stuart Smallcombe standing in for the absent Oscar winner of last week, Terry Maylin. Stuart was very much pressing the importance of Internet and the advantages of broadband through a business grade lease line.
James Humphreys changed tack to draw to our attention the private medical healthcare services that can be produced by his organisation and Brian Painter followed up by advising us of the benefits to health of not smoking and his ambition to provide a smoke free world. Talking about health, Neil Bellham has had a going over by the environmental health people but he came out with flying colours, well done Neil!
Toby Acton is finally back to presenting workshops. The first after lockdown. His purpose is always to produce the light bulb moment for his clients.
Our newest member, Paul Corrigan this week focused on heat pumps as we tackle the energy crisis.
The Mayor of Gants Hill Village was definitely more upbeat with his 60 second presentation that he had been in his Ed Slot as he advocated the value of notepads as marketing tools and of course he will be the man to provide them.
Revelation of the week came from Leann Reason warning us that North facing rooms need warm colours but South facing rooms give you the opportunity of using any colour but beware of the effect sunlight will have on any particular colour.
A note for your diary, Saturday 6th April 2024 when the English Cream Tea Company will be holding a quiz and supper. Jane Malyon was followed by Tina Walker whose many and varied talents apparently include doing driving jobs, namely helping Neil Bellham as he heads for Spain. Indeed his positive approach and good news story could have won him the Oscar but the Naughty Corner’s opinion was that Toby Acton’s positivity and’’ breakout” attitude deserved the award this week and who can really disagree with them.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Reasons to be cheerful, 25 referrals this week and business recorded with a belated addition totalled £23,000. It led to a very lively referrals and testimonials round but not before the 10 minute presentation
10-minute presentation by Tina Walker
Tina Walker presented this week and demonstrated her many and varied talents, from serving summons is to extending her range of expertise to driving. She was able to clarify the advantages of using her virtual services and the financial benefits to businesses that do. A very effective presentation.
It seemed that this week we finally got into our stride following the Christmas/New Year break. Keep recording the old data!!
