Chairman’s Business Networking Blog Tuesday 8th July 2014.
Lots of us on holiday but we still managed 18 in attendance including Ian Stanley, visitor for the second time who produced his application to join and Chris Vernon senior and junior from Kitchen Technics, visitors for the first time but enthusiastic to come back and join.
One of the holiday makers was Nige Kirby and in his absence arrangements were made for future Ed Slot presentations involving other willing members, details will be published shortly.
The 60 second round was much anticipated, if only to establish that as members we can produce something that is not boring.
Hugo was in Wonderland examining which way our businesses should go, if we don’t plan we will all go somewhere… mad as a hatter!
Lewis Hackney produced one of the sayings of the morning “…no one likes concrete…” which is why for 10% extra he will produce you block paving.
Debra Glover both did better and healthier products which will sustain you from cradle to grave; they are even Vegan certified. Have to say I did not realise that Vegan’s needed certification, to be fair she has suffered the upheaval of moving, to which she gave testimonial to our newest recruit Ian Stanley.
Paul Lefever was keen to show us his plug in tester, apparently is a must for the DIY man.
Second saying of the meeting from Richard Willis who was hawking his copy writing “…don’t let the words let you down…”.
Before I leave the 60 second round, Ian Nicholson warned against the cost of delay!
I must mention Kieran Sweeney and Christine Arnold in one breath. Kieran was offering £150.00 vouchers for signups to Utility Warehouse this month and Christine, always up for a bargain, beguiled by this approach an promptly awarded him the Oscar. Whilst thoroughly deserved her own offering was an example of an effective 60 seconds. She produced menus to illustrate the work that Kestrel can do. She recommended them as a way to liven up a restaurant’s face to the world. She suggested that when we all go out to a restaurant we look at menus and try to suggest they liven them up and thereby get her referrals…simples!
In Nigel’s absence I had the pleasure of reading out the biography sheet for our 10 minute presenter who was Stuart Sinclair. He is currently without a partner but has two cats, Lloyd and Harry. I will not repeat his other claims to fame but he can now add one to it, an excellent presenter of a 10 minute self advertisement. He gave us a good run down on HIS magazines and received questions from several interested members following his presentation; let us all help him promote his product.
There was a general feeling of purpose about the meeting this week, not least due to Scott Griffiths‘ Education Presentation last week regarding referrals. With new members joining on what appears to be on a fairly regular basis let all try and make the extra effort to find referrals for each other.
I await next week’s meeting with interest (and your comments)
Without delay I would like to say that the meeting was definatley not boring!…..Stuarts presentation was both incitful….and entertaining….although after his admission I do need to check that his beard is for real!! Good to see new additions….once the holiday season is over we may need to extend the tables to prevent overcrowding! Have a great week all. Ian
I agree Ian – definitely not boring this week. I was also really impressed by the new posters that Christine brought along. Once we can get these distributed and working for us I’m sure we’l have another stream of visitors and members.
Cant impress how much I think we need the following types of business as members:
– Motor trades
– Travel Agent
– Promotional and personalised goods
Scott.
What a great meeting… and sorry guys for taking alot of the lime light this week :))). Soooo pleased with every ones feedback on the posters… proving I hope, that Kestrel can design AND print :)))
Now come on guys and girls…. take your wonderful partners, friends and families out for dinner… if ever you needed an excuse :)))
Shall I take Lloyd and Harry out for dinner?
Sounds purrrrrfect
Great posters Chris. Scott, I’m stalking a motor trader (he won’t get away). With new members queuing up we must be doing something right!
Do we have 2 Debra Glovers? Confused by “Debra Glover ‘both’ did”!!
Loved the 10 min slot, wow you’d never have guessed Stu’s secrets!
Fab poster Christine – the 60 second rounds may have to be cut to 45 when the posters attract more members! Bagsie not be the one to tell Brian……
Landscape Gardener confirmed as guest for Tuesday 🙂
