There were 23 in all being 22 members which included John Freeman whose attendance was brief. The 23rd attendee was Roger Malyon, saintly spouse of Jane who was there as part of Jane’s 10 minutes presentation team. It was dark cold but dry when we all arrived and when we left it was glorious sunshine. What a way to start the day!
The Performance League
Last months results had Scott Griffiths in 3rd place with 260 points, Terry Maylin with 267 points and out front Matt Barry with 310 points. More than half of us made the benchmark and £40,500 worth of business was recorded for the month.
Education Presentation
Paul Booth was this week’s presenter and unashamedly announced that his theme was not EBF related. He provided us with origins of countries names who we all might have recognised from the World Cup. England’s name was derived from a Germanic tribe, Brazil is Portuguese for wood. France was rather uninspiringly the land of the Franks, Belgium derived from Gaul, Netherlands means low lying whereas Holland, a wooded land. I can only assume that Paul was stimulated by the onset of Christmas but it set us all up For the meeting to come
The 60 Second Round
Vincent Goode, this week’s adjudicator had vowed not to award the Oscar unless some passing reference was made In the presentation to a Christmas song.  And this was not ignored as his fellow members made their presentations.
Brian Painter reviewed his 11 year old client who couldn’t go to school because of his fear as to what would happen to his mother whilst he was away. He’s back at school, presumably with such fears banished and an American client has stopped smoking. His most recent was a new OCD 13 year old who was constantly in search of cleanliness other than when he was at school. Rather than sending him away to school it appears that his parents have consulted Brian. Best of luck with that Brian!
Unusual 60 came from Mike Skinner who regards Mike Rogers as an inspiration. However misguided he was listened to.
Terry Maylin explained how the Ministry of Justice had managed to reduce whiplash claims substantially by creating a portal that nobody could properly operate. Terry does know how to operate it and would like to raise the numbers going to court by assisting anybody you can find who has recently suffered an injury.
James Humphreys is looking for Roofers and Scaffolders so the song YMCA would have been appropriate although not Christmassy. Nick Cooke wanted to be Christmassy and ash trees, holly and Ivy were mentioned with regard to subsidence claims
Toby Acton revealed his recent rebrand courtesy of Matt Barry. It’s called Pole Position Business Solutions and he had a laptop available to show us.
Last week Tina Walker told us that she was going to an awards ceremony and hey ho, she won. congratulations Tina.
Stuart Smallcombe once again reminded us that his business is dedicated to high speed connections and he produced the saying of the day, ‘..there’s fibre everywhere..’ That’s probably only true for those of us who had brown bread sandwiches for breakfast. Of those who had white I observed as always Ben Golding left all of his crusts whilst Mike Rogers left all of the bread and simply ate the filling. I mention this only as a point of interest.
Oh by the way, Nick Cooke won the Oscar for being subtle.

10-minute presentation by Jane Malyon
A relatively sumptuous affair with tablecloth on table laid out with an assortment of her products and awards. As always her performance was assured and her range of products clearly described. The highlight however was Roger showing how her delicately trimmed sandwiches are produced with the obvious bonus that we all got to taste them.
A lively and entertaining meeting can be regarded as a warm up for next week when you must wear your Christmas pully and bring a donation of at least £5. And the week after when we have our Christmas special.
Well done Jane on an entertaining 10-minute presentation and well done Roger on putting up with it!
Good lively meeting and looking forward to the jumper meeting!!
He should be canonised! 😀
Who is Matt Berry!!!
Isnt he the Absolute Radio morning DJ?
Have updated the blog post fort you, and also correct the “incorrect paul” too.
awesome and very tasty meeting! Lovely to meet ‘the hands’!
Of course, you’re sworn to secrecy about his identity now!! 😀
A cracking meeting all round. An original ed slot from the interesting Accountant
and a tastey presentation from Auntie Jane ably assisted by “hands” Roger
Thank you our Brian. Loving the phrase: interesting Accountant! 😀
A thoroughly enjoyable meeting. I always enjoy being educated on the etymology of place names, so thank you Paul Booth (Dulieu?) for this. Jane’s presentation was really good, loved the sangwijes too. And thank you for those who entered into the spirit of the 60 seconds. Nick actually concealed his reference to a christmas song rather expertly, even though one member complained that he should have won it. Not namtobying names of course.
Namtobying! Lol xx
Uh…. wot?
Sorry it was a typo lol
Please spell Christmas with a capital C.
Excellent 10 minute presentation Jane, assisted by Santa.

Lol – that is hilarious re Roger’s anonymity!! Well done poppets. A thoroughly enjoyable and amusing meeting! 😀
I’ve said it before and I’ll say again. EBF is just the best thing and this Thursday morning was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I was quite chuffed that I won the Oscar for my 60 second presentation. A truly scrumptious 10 minutes from Jane and Roger. And a great blog as always from Aidan.
