Another morning where ice was scraped from windscreens but 21 members turned up and braved the cold and we were rewarded with one visitor.
The Performance League
After the first meeting of a new month, Ellen Beckenham is the current leader. Testimonials appears to be the key to her success
Education Presentation
Vincent Goode delivered, with a simple message to get yourself into a position where you can demonstrate something that sets you apart from your competitors, make yourself memorable to your customers. His suggestion is to send a card out to clients after a job has been completed with a handwritten note.
It was a reminder that we should make use of any unique selling points that we have when looking to attract and retain business.
New Member Induction
Toby Acton was duly inducted and presented with his certificate and all the accompanying paraphernalia; he is now truly one of us.
The 60 Second Round
Vincent Goode introduced the concept of Rip and Go Envelopes. It’s a good job he is not in lingerie.
Terry Maylin explained the encouragement solicitors are receiving to be transparent with their pricing and how successful amendments to TM Law’s Web Site has produced a good response thanks to Scott Griffiths’ assistance.
Kevin Radford was present and produced a passable imitation of David Attenborough to Illustrate that, like a lot of gods creatures, insurance is not static and we should keep on top of our insurance requirements as they change with the passage of time.
Have you every fancied being the person who collects and returns all the abandoned trollies in a supermarket car park. Well, if you do, the man to approach is Mason Edwards who is looking to recruit such people.
The EBF comfort blanket was also restored by Brian Painter who went graphic on the chemical effects of smoking. Phenol, Nepheline , Butane and Cadmium are some of the many exciting products that you inhale when you flash the ash; not quite as gruesome as some of Brian’s offerings but nonetheless telling.
Saj Sreedharan appears totally immersed in Christmas and things relevant to that day of celebration. He did inform us that he is now planning for Valentine’s Day and we should bear this in mind.
He was not the only one looking forward, Scott Griffiths is suggesting that we look for clients for him who need to make New Year’s resolutions about updating their Web Sites.
Pride of place went to Ellen Beckenham , awarded the Oscar by the Mayor of Gants Hill for dispelling certain myths about asbestos and emphasising our duty of care to others in relation to dealing with asbestos.

10-minute presentation by John Freeman
The 10 Minute Presentation was taken over this week by John Freeman. He was fully prepared in all senses of the word. He had prepared for the use of the group detachable/removable blinds secured by magnets which made the use of the screen much more effective.
He then produced a very well prepared presentation that demonstrated his all-round skills by showing how he completely refurbished his front room. Congratulations John on a first class presentation.
Referrals and Testimonials
It was a lively session dealing with all of our referrals which demonstrated how effective the group is in passing business.
There was towards the end of the meeting a feeling of impending doom. Comments from the Naughty Corner as a prelude to their take over next week filled us all with anticipation/dread. Looking forward to a great turnout next week.
My favourite moment from yesterdays meeting was missed from this blog. It was when Aidan referred to our guests (a Dentist) business card who provided “Discrete Braces”. Aidan then demonstrated, with a bit of an extravagant display, his very non-discrete red braces.
he was too modest to mention it!!
This weeks meeting was especially good for the quality of the 60 seconds that were given, especially from Kevin R, Ben and Paul. Those who have doubts as to how to give a memorable 1mt presentation of themselves and their businesses take note.
A very enjoyable meeting. Well done John on a visual 10 mins that demonstrated your many skills. Congrats to Ellen on making asbestos interesting ??!!?? I rather enjoyed the impromptu 60 seconds+ by the naughty corner: a good rehearsal for next week no doubt. Jolly good effort by la grande cochon.
no mention for the sheriff’s charity activity!!!
A very entertaining blog from our esteemed Chairman. A well deserved Oscar for Ellen as chosen by yours truly, and an excellent presentation from John “In and Out” Freeman. We’re all waiting for an invite to cosy up with you and watch some Christmas movies with you and your Mrs. Looking forward to next week, I think…
Excellent visual 10 mins by John Boy, really demonstrated his many skills. Well done ,Ellen, for making asbestos sound interesting??!!?. I enjoyed the impromptu 60 secs+ by the naughty corner, no doubt a rehearsal for their main show next week. The biggy piggy also deserves a mention. See you this evening at the Duke of York.
well done John on a great presentation of what you do! Also a good ed slot from Vincenzo too. Looking forward to next week. oh actually…. no i’m not…. 😉
Excellent 10 minutes from John F and another great meeting.
Great meeting and brilliant presentation from John!
One of the highlights for me though was watching Aiden show off his braces!!
Well done to Ellen on winning the Oscar….. I’m not bitter I didn’t win at all 😂
I’m looking forward to / slightly nervous for the ‘naughty corner’ take over next week!
The banter was well and truly flowing this week, congratulations Toby and welcome to Ebf, looking forward to seeing you all later on. Great 10 minutes there John F, nice work.
Quality meeting from a quality bunch of businesses, well done everyone and especially John Freeman with his excellent 10 minutes.

Outstanding work showcased by John Freeman during his presentation. A true Craftsman!
Wow, it was Ellen’s week. Well done! Welcome to Toby too. Looking forward to the Christmas bash this evening folks, see you there.
Well done John. Apologies in advance for next week (and possibly tonight)
Great meeting this week with some hilarious 60 seconds. I feel very honoured indeed this week, I won’t last at the top of leader board with these other great businesses but great feeling to have finally made it there! Great 10 minutes John and I was lucky enough to see the superb living room you have created. Am definitely looking forward to next weeks take over 🙂
Thank you all for your kind comments and business over this last year, very much appreciated, well done to Ellen for winning the Oscar, and topping the leader board, i missed the flash of braces somehow, sorry i can’t be with you all tonight, but have a great night, last years was a blast!
See you all next week for the naughtivity promising to be a highlight of the year I’m sure 😉
No pressure lads 😊
A special thankyou to our Tina, from Liberty Executive Services, without her help, my presentation would not have been possible. Thanks Tina.
This was a very enjoyable meeting with plenty of good natured humour coupled with plenty of recommended business passed. I thought Ben’s poem and delivery were excellent and although you didn’t win the Oscar I will enrol you in the live poets society .
Great meeting and real eye opener for me from our resident “Johannes Factotum” and his plethora of skills. Good to be formally induced, sorry inducted, I slept last night soundly with my resting on my lovely new folder… Looking forward (I think!?) to next week’s naughty corner Noel shenanigans. Hope Ben will sing for us again…
Absolutely great meeting yes Aidan the braces comment was funny. I did think that Paul should have won the Oscar for getting his point across and for staying focused with all the distractions. Well done to Ellen for winning it. Mr John Freeman your presentation was exquisite he is a master craftsman that living room looks phenomenal.
Great Christmas dinner this evening and well done to Brian for organising such a fantastic evening.
Looking forward to Thursday morning.
