No rain in sight, a beautiful day in prospect with an ideal start. 22 EBFers gathering together to celebrate the best networking group in the land.
The Performance League
3rd place was joint effort via the Barry/Skinner combo, with Tina Walker second and out front by one point on 79, Jane Malyon whose topping of the league is starting to become a regular occurrence
Education Presentation
Ben Golding presented and warned us to be conscious of the face that we give to our customers. Being forced to hold on when you telephone, rudeness and/or not showing appropriate empathy can be a real problem to you with your customers. The importance of building customer relations was summarised in one word by him as something that is helpful in networking as well, listening! As business people we should be conscious of the image that we create.
New Member Induction & Existing Member Renewal
Terry Maylin had relevant information to report to the meeting. Members were asked to take note that Melissa Jackson is taking a three month sabbatical although she is available for you to contact her. Also although we thought we had a recruit, the builder chair remains unoccupied and we should renew our searches for a suitable candidate.
The 60 Second Round
Scott Griffiths was awarding the Oscar and kicked off with an explanation that, as part of his website services, he helps monitor the competition. Matt Barry is working with various sporting institutions and the most recent one is Middlesbrough Football Club. Not exactly a local team but he drew out from the woodwork a couple of potential supporters who hailed in some way from the northeast. Whether there becomes a Brentwood branch of the Middlesbrough supporters club remains to be seen.
Vincent Goode was looking for estate agents for him to produce mail drop leaflets. The printing equivalent of eating your greens is apparently to ensure that you always print on both sides of the paper to make sure that when it drops through the letterbox the message is clear….. one way or the other.
Chris de la PrIda once again tantalised us, this week with Thailand and Shri Lanka. He is also going to put out a weekly e-mail reinforcing where the goodies can be found.
Toby Acton looked to extend his reputation as the ‘metaphor maestro’ with the likening of the delayed launch of Artemis 2 to an obligation upon all of us to constantly monitor the performance and output of our business.
James Humphries looked a bit battered after a weekend of celebrating the promotion of Ipswich Town to the premiership. It was perhaps not entirely unexpected that he was promoting special indemnity.
Paul Corrigan gave us a lesson in physics. Providing heat or cold are two sides of the same coin as exemplified by air conditioning. As a product, because it is regarded as renewable, there is no VAT. With climate change going the way it is this might become an essential piece of kit for all buildings. Ben Golding drew our attention to the Utility Warehouse cash back card which can be used abroad and therefore ideal for spending when you are on holiday
Stuart Smallcombe produced the LG Networks headline for the week, ‘VoIP and Microsoft teams are linked’. Makes you want more information, regard it as a headline and speak to Stuart
Mike Skinner was alliterative in explaining that pre-production paperwork put him off not one jot. That is apparently what drone work can do to you.
John Hammond was bemoaning difficulties experienced by him and Blake over in Belgium wearing full safety gear in hot weather. By way of maintaining the international flavour Blake Hammond was asking us to search out World War 2 or other types of reenactment groups who might be interested in the weaponry he had to offer in pursuing this particular nerdy type of endeavour.
Jane Malyon started with chocolate brownies, moved to others of her products  and asked, can we supply them?… the answer of course was obvious!
So who won the Oscar! Brian Painter of course, a 67 year old cannabis smoker also gave up smoking and was so far clean after 10 days. Scott was very much taken by this…….. Something to do with weed killer.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Referrals finished up at about 15 for this week but moneys recorded looked really good showing slightly in excess of  £21,000 this week.
10-minute presentation by Leann Reason
Leann Reason was this week’s presenter and what a good job she made of it! Her professional approach to interior design was mirrored by the quality of her presentation and her fully illustrated guide gave us all a full appreciation of her talents. Let’s get out there and try and find more for her to do
Now I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again….. I’m going on holiday at the weekend for two weeks Now that is real Deja Vu

An enjoyable and worthwhile meeting, congratulations to Brian for winning the oscar. Even though I haven’t consulted with the EBF Overloads, I will generously give you an additional 10 secs next week. So that will be a bell at 60 seconds and a double bell at 70 seconds. Sounds confusing? It is.
Missing Ben already…and I loved Leann’s presentation. She’s a superstar of interior design! Thanks to all for coming to the Synergy Meeting after too – that’s fab. Great Thursday morning all round 😀
