We were 23 for today’s meeting and there was a lively networking session, followed by breakfast and then followed by the meeting itself.
The Performance League
I am 3rd still but trailing Neil Bellham on 201 points and Jane Malyon on 202 points.
Education Presentation
It was Sarah Steel making the presentation this week and her topic was First Impressions. The acronym was T.E.A.S.E. which applies particularly to networking.
T is for time. as in “get there on…”
E is for ease, as in “be calm and at …”
A is for attentive, at least have your mobile on silent.
S is for smile, be cheerful but not cheesy
E is for engaging, let your body language do the talking
Membership Matters
Despite the ongoing effects of Long Covid Howard Bullock is up for and is renewing his membership. Best wishes from all of us.
The 60 Second Round
We started with the two John’s, Hammond was advocating a ring on the finger to open a lock; Freeman was looking for things to put on walls as a simple straightforward job before he goes away on holiday.
Mellisa Jackson advocates clearing your desk and your drawers. She discovered a contact this way and was rewarded with a referral.
Emma Taylor declared the house market good and Richard Reed was upbeat in looking for discerning travellers. Kieran Peaty was also upbeat emphasising the full range of his services. It never pays to be too optimistic. As Mike Rogers explained, we have a cost of living crisis and lenders are becoming nervous of lending by way of further advance to assist borrowers in consolidating debt. If he was slightly downbeat, Neil Bellham declared himself overworked and tired.
Jane Malyon was celebrating the bookings she had received from EBF Members for her Jubilee Scone fight.
Of the more outlandish contributions, Paul Dulieu saw every day as a school day. He works for so many types of businesses that he is on a permanent learning curve. Brian Painter once again delighted us with a Russian Roulette Metaphor to illustrate how you had a better chance of survival with one, two or three chambers of a gun containing bullets than smokers have of surviving.
Best use of props was Scott Griffiths, who on the basis that we all accept cookies when we go onto a website, produced a packet of the chocolate chip variety, and handed them round to everyone, commendably within 60 seconds.
Of course, he deserved the Oscar which John Hammond duly awarded to him.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Scott Griffiths announced 22 referrals for this week which had risen to 24 by the end of the meeting.
10-minute presentation by William Verner
William Verner was this week’s presenter and gave an enthusiastic explanation of his personal and business history. It included the rather interesting claim that he could still do the splits at the age of 70. I take the view that the age is irrelevant, the reaction of all the blokes made it clear that none of them had ever gained this skill however young they might be Well done, William.
Referrals and Testimonials Round
It is always a lively round when there are lots of referrals and today was no exception.
We also celebrated the reinstatement of the Referral Reality Check and the Speakers Prize. Zoom is becoming a distant memory!
Thank you to Sarah for teasing us with your ed slot, and to Will I Am for an insightful presentation. A good lively meeting, would love to see all 31 members around the table before too long, have a good long weekend all
Clever ed slot Sarah and very true. Well done Will on your unusual 10 minutes telling us more about you rather than what you can do!
Another lively meeting with a good ed slot from Sarah and an informative presentation from William. I listened fascinated as he talked about £millions. I wondered if he could set up a loan for me of a couple of quid so I can put down a deposit on a new TV set?
I must thank Steward for being my ears and letting me know I had won the speakers prize!
Good meeting as always. I’m gradually working my way around the room, I may even risk the “naughty corner” as some point in the near future. Really interesting project with Mike S which hopefully we’ll be able to report on over the coming months.
Another great meeting, tribe! Well done to Sarah and William and to one and all. I always come out smiling. PS My Socks of the Day award got an interesting reaction! 😀
Brilliant Ed Slot Sarah and a great presentation Will and of course another great meeting.
Great vibe about the place for todays meeting folks. Well done to Sarah for her Ed Slot – the tease, to Jane for heading the points table and also to Will for his very straightforward and informative 10mts.
🙂
