For those of us who listen to the news before we come to the meeting they learned that there was the prospect of the cost of a Mars Bar increasing by 9p and a packet of Frosties by 39p. Given that the size of a Mars Bar seems to be coming down we now have an insight into the “cost” of reducing our salt and sugar intake. Not Grrr..eat. Tony the Tiger will be turning in his grave. Maybe this shock news had something to do with this frightening prospect but I think it had more to do with holidays and children related issues that gave rise to a turnout of 23.
The Performance League
With the top 3 all scoring in excess of 100 points to date, James Humphreys is out-front followed by Scott Griffiths and me.
Education Presentation
It was Sarah Bell, struggling with the after effects of Covid who gave us an insightful view as to how boys and girls react differently to a problem; apparently, the boys tackle it and react to problems as they go along whereas girls think and plan before they tackle the problem. In conclusion and translating this to business, you need a bit of both on different occasions.
The 60 Second Round
Jane Malyon won the Oscar last week but in her absence, Dean Caldon stood in. Apparently, in the estate agency business, there is plenty of demand but a lack of supply so it was timely that we could supply him with the opportunity of adjudicating the Oscar.
Colin O’Conner indicated that whilst common sense is at the heart of health and safety, the substantial increase in deaths at work despite the Covid lockdown indicates either a lack of common sense in the working community or not adhering to basic health and safety requirements. If it is the latter he’s your man.
Neil Belham has been at Pinewood feeding all those involved in the making of the most recent Captain Marvel movie. If it had been a Popeye movie would he had fed them spinach!
A new and rather sobering insight into Alison Bean’s work emerged as she explained how she had been involved this week in arranging support for colleagues and family following a suicide.
Simon Essex has been supplying aftercare and advice for purchasers of plants from the Greenhouse. He considers that plants tell you what’s wrong with them which undoubtedly elevates him to the state of “Plant Whisper”
Brian Painter is anticipating that the advent of weddings and air flights that will follow our newfound freedoms next week will bring to his couch best men with fears of speaking and holidaymakers with fears of flying.
The Mayor of Gants Hill might well be the answer to the question, “who framed Roger Rabbit?”. He showed us various examples of framing that should strike a chord with those of us who are often needing to frame or reframe.
Terry Maylin and Allan Moller both extolled the virtues of being selective when new jobs present themselves.
Scott Griffiths has just finished a “big job” and showed us the impressive work he has been doing for EuroLoo. He has always been known as a person who doesn’t mind pitching in and getting his hands dirty.
So what about the Oscar. Dean, a fellow F1 enthusiast, was won over by the master of metaphor Toby Acton. The innovation this week of a sprint qualification at the British Grand Prix was used as a metaphor for the willingness in business to embrace change and be willing to try something new.
Synergy Team Meeting
Paul Booth the Business/Finance team had an actual meeting at the George and Dragon. 8 of us had a very pleasurable and useful meeting sitting outside in the sunshine.
10-minute presentation by Nathan Howson
Nathan Howson explained his own beginnings and that of his Tesla Group. From the questions afterwards it does seem that he successfully got us to understand exactly what he does and more importantly potential areas for referrals. He produced several slides. One of them was a bloke called Tesla whose photograph rather scarily revealed a more than passing resemblance to Nathan himself.
Referrals & Testimonials
A lively round with what appeared to be quite a lot of referrals.
Another high-quality meeting with an excellent education slot by Sarah Bell and a very informative 10 Minute presentation by Nathan. The 60 second round too, was very on point.
Thanks Terry
Shame we had low numbers again this week. Those of you not present missed another fine meeting. Well done all who contributed
A quiet one this morning, but good fun as always. Have a good week all.
Great meeting and thanks all for the positive feedback with regards to my presentation. Very good education slot by Sarah also.
Thanks Nathan!
It was good to be back! Really interesting 10 minutes from Nathan, seeing how one problem in the construction industry can lead to a multitude of issues. Even looking at the photos of the scaffolding was enough to put me off! I’ll stick to being an autism specialist, I think!
A great meeting over al
Although a bit low on numbers but another great meeting, brilliant Ed Slot from Sarah B, great presentation from Nathan, and it was good knowing more about what you do. Have a great weekend everyone
First class presentation from Nathan that passed very quickly. Fascinating ed slot from Sarah.
Oh my goodness. SO sorry to miss the meeting (and thanks @Dean Caldon for standing in for my judging bit). We had a major power outage in the night and it threw everything out (even ‘dissolved’ our sky Q box which now needs replacing). It caused havoc with our systems and I got utterly waylaid trying to deal with it all. BIG APOLOGIES x x
Another Great meeting and very Intreseting 10 minutes from Nathan. Great ed slot Sarah. Hope to meet up in person soon. Have great week everybody
Glad to hear Sarah your back to your usual self, great to have you back. Congratulations on the Oscar Toby, and a well presented 10 minutes by Nathan, enjoy your weekend all!
