A clear and bright morning apparent by about 7.15 am. Surely spring has sprung. At least a good turnout had members with a spring in their step and reasons to be cheerful. First day of the month and from our diaries it was clear that we are in a leap year with an extra day to make an make an impact on the Performance League for this month
The Performance League
A new month and an old month that from a positive point of view produced recorded business of in excess of £137,000 and more referrals than you could shake a stick at; but as a catch up month from unposted information not reflective necessarily of individuals performances. However as we move towards our 12 anniversary, we will hopefully have accurate records for the year
Education Presentation
Stuart Smallcombe frequently produces very useful presentations and this week was no exception. The subject close to his heart was use of mobile phones abroad and the education presentation gave him sufficient time to set out the various charges that might affect you if you depart these shores. The upshot of the advice, without the detail that he very usefully provided, was that you’re fine if you pop over to Europe but if your journey is to Nepal, don’t take your mobile phone with you. This comprehensive review of the current state of play went down very well with members and a reminder of the traps that are there for the unwary. Thanks Stuart.

The 60 Second Round
Matt Barry was our Oscar adjudicator and set things underway with a description of the ‘brain storming’ sessions he has been having with some of his clients.
Leann Reason gave us greater insight into the way that she operates by explaining how she organises the trades in carrying out work following her design, as part of her overall service. Nick Cooke is also into design as part of his services and his most recent client was looking for structural design necessary to take down a wall between the kitchen and dining room. Was it to be a steel beam or goalpost arrangement. His visit to the client this morning will no doubt determine this. We can only look on in wonderment
Vincent Goode this week emphasised his pocket presentation folders that come in all different sizes and single or double pocket styles. Oh and by the way! He produces them at speed.
Toby Acton is encouraging all of his clients to make fractional alterations to their usual work practises. Two of his are yoga and peloton, or rather than making off time for doing them.
James Humphreys is always trying to ensure that we pay attention to restrictions and endorsements on our policies and the benefits of employing a broker to make sure they check these over for you. Apparently in the insurance industry at the moment they are expecting restaurants to catch fire. Clara Downton acknowledged the slightly volatile marketplace for mortgage rates and suggested that we plan early, and encourage those we know who are looking for mortgages, to do so.
Blake Hammond announced February’s game/meeting will take place on the 25th of the month; other useful snippets of information included Paul Corrigan pointing out that on boiler installations you can get finance and the whilst Scott Griffiths doesn’t normally do half a job he can mitigate the cost of a website by building the framework and letting you fill it in.
So what of the Oscar; Paul Corrigan won what might well be the first of many for his dissertation on boilers
This weeks statistics and points of note
Scott Griffiths mentioned Paul Corrigan in dispatches in relation to his prompt approach to providing details for his website entry. And requesting suggestions, in addition to replying to the award nominations, of memories of the year in relation to either members or individual events that have occurred. Give us some information for our annual review in a couple of weeks’ time.
Synergy Team Report
To add to this action-packed meeting Paul Booth contributed a reminder that the finance synergy team meeting next week will be our delayed Christmas dinner. All meet at the Blue Boar Billericay High Street next Tuesday 6:00 PM
10-minute presentation by Mike Skinner
This week was Mike Skinner doing the presenting. He illustrated, with the television that he brought with him, how he went about preparing videos with a stunning piece that he did for former member Kieran Peaty. I noticed that completed award nomination forms that had already been handed to Scott Griffiths were being recalled. This was a serious contender for the best 10 minute presenter for the year. It was an excellent demonstration of precisely what value you get by using Mike Skinner services to enhance your website and as a promotional video, it was extremely impressive
Referrals and testimonials
Inevitably the increased activity occurring this month lead to a round that sported many referrals.
If you haven’t done so already get your nominations in to Scott Griffiths for the best 60 seconds, 10 minutes and member of the year this week.
Excellent education slot from Stuart today- scary stuff!
Also a great presentation by Mike too, really useful to show us what he can really do when given the opportunity.
Make sure you give Scott your votes if you haven’t already!
Great meeting this morning, have never been called plumber extraordinaire before but liking it a lot!
Such a great bunch of people at EBF and loving Nicks haircut!
Thank you Stuart for a really well delivered Ed Slot. My family (not Schnitzel) will be in Brazil at the end of this month, and its not my phone I’m worried about, it’s the wife and kids, yikes! I have disabled Wifi Assist as duly instructed.
Also congratulations to Mike on a truly excellent 10 minute presentation, and he finished it at 9 minutes, with time for questions, and he brought a speaker prize too. Well done indeed, Stuey and Mikey.
Thanks for the kind review Aiden!
