At last a good turnout in August, 22 members present with 3 visitors. Sharon Conway from the Flying Bee whose application to join the group has been accepted – congratulations Sharon.
Two first time guests, Paul Hughes from Commercial Energy and Suzette Howe from Triple Windows.
The Ed Slot was once again this week courtesy of David Plumley. His subject was the importance of concentration during the working day. His suggestions included; mini breaks, drinking water, going outside for fresh air, jumping up and down, breathing deeply, getting sufficient sleep and a good breakfast. The working day accordingly to our Plum therefore involves drinking eating sleeping and jumping up and down. Members should notice and take it with them to their work place.
Thanks to Michael Adelizzi for popping in his way to a job, he did not eat drink jump up and down or partake in the 60 seconds but his attendance was appreciated.
And so to the 60 second round. Hot weather brought out the shorts and the knees, some more attractive than others.
Richard Reed, his whole life like is a holiday, has spent a lot of the time in the garden…working.
Jo Jones relieved a cyclist of pains in his body by getting him to stretch. It was not clear exactly what he stretched but it resulted in a proposal of marriage.
Still on subject of holidays Carmel Jane has not had a day off for 2 weeks and a recent job involved her taking photographs from the top of a Fork Lift. That’s the way to make plant(s) work for you.
Howard Bullock was obliged to leave early but had put in the appearance. He was therefore absent from the Naughty Table; his place was taken by Alan Shaw which combination of the Whimsical and the Naughty inevitably produced a rather confused 60 seconds….. but he has been busy.
The other members of the School of Whimsy were on top form today. Nick Cooke doesn’t just do structural Surveys; he was on hand when a car crashed into a house and he came out with a rather “Trump-like” utterance that elderly relatives should be checked regularly regarding their ability to drive. It wasn’t quite clear who should make this check but the implication was a steel beam administered in the right place at the right time should do the trick.
Brian Painter has a salutary tale about a 13 yard girl who he put into a trance but had the good sense to ensure the mother was present when she complained of being effectively levitated our Pilgrim.
Every week I learn something new, this week it was from Jo Eastwood. Stemware really means glasses to us peasants. No wonder Steve Roach, who was sitting next to her, finished talking about Christmas.
Before I sign off on the 60 second round I should report that Mike Rogers, returning from holiday said a lot was happening and looked positively cheerful whilst Paul Booth, likewise returning from holiday at Disney World was constantly reminded of said Mr Rogers because everyone was wearing T Shirts with “grumpy” or some reference to it emblazoned on the front.
Pride of place however this week must go to Dean Caldon. He has completed the launch of his new business, Grace and Rose, having thrown off the shackles of this Redstone Franchise. Congratulations to Dean and best wishes to the future. The reward…… the Oscar.
Terry Maylin, standing in for Scott Griffiths talked of business written so far this month being in excess of £60,300.00 which he reported together with the 23 referrals, very encouraging
In the words of the Plum, the much coveted slot…the 10 minute presentation to you, was delivered by Donna Evans who gave us a full explanation of the extent of what she does and how she does it. Plenty of props gave us an insight into exactly what she can produce and it is hoped that what was an excellent presentation will lead to plenty of further business.
From the figures referred to earlier it follows that we had a successful referrals and testimonials round, all in all, a very effervescent meeting.
With other members back from holiday let’s see if we can get an even bigger turn out next week.
A well delivered 10 mins from Donna. We could have asked her to run up a pair of curtains … but she was not wearing her trainers. Congrats to Dean … a leap forward. All success to the new company.
Sorry I had to slide off early. Normal service should resume next week!
Nicely summed up as usual Aidan. And it was great to see so many at the meeting.
lively meeting as usual good to see 3 visitors
Great 10 minutes from Donna and a really lively meeting. Thank you to everyone for your best wishes too.
Many congrats again Dean – nicely brand and design work as well!
Delightful as always Aidan. Great meeting with everyone there too!
Very lively meeting this week, the best for ages. These are always enhanced by a higher attendance. Donna gave us an excellent 10mts and Dean announced the launch of Grace & Rose, my very best wishes for it’s success.
PS: who forgot the spell checker this week?
Well done, Donna, good presentation. I’m amazed the Romans had such amazing blinds all those years ago. But of course they did have central heating and running water. Good luck,Dean, go and get that £1m sale! An objection, I’m an elderly relative and I don’t drive in to houses!!
Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming to The Flying B. Looking forward to meeting you for breakfast and business again!
excellent meeting and well done Dean and wish you continued success!
