I rose, dressed, and drove to the venue in the dark. The first time since the early Spring. Although heralding as the pressing prospect of the Winter spirits were raised by the Meeting, which had a theme of quotes from the movies and which elicited a great deal of interest and research from the Members and in addition, once the dawn had broken, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning.
Education Presentation
My turn to multi-task and Members were regaled with the contents of the EBT tool kit. At the meeting, there is the 60 second round and the 10-minute presentation that gives you an opportunity to set out exactly what you do and the sort of referrals that you are looking for on a regular basis. Outside the meeting, 1-2-1’s can be arranged when a detailed explanation can be given by two Members to each other of exactly what their business is and all of the aspects for which referrals could be made. Finally, the Synergy Team Meetings which give a more relaxed get together of several members and which never ceases to provide some gem or nugget related to one of the Members that will open a way for referrals.
The 60 Second Round
Inevitably dominated by the well-known quotes there did however appear amidst the verbiage genuine information to attract referrals.
Richard Reed is touting Valentines Day in New York and Christmas in Vegas. It is quite nice to see Richard offering arrangements for those who wish to celebrate these rather overrated and pagan festivals and go to America to do it.
The School of Whimsey, despite the absence of Alan Shaw, produced a veritably confusing mixture of messages.
Nick Cooke told of a lady who wanted a home buyers survey but when Nick described a structural Survey and told her that this is what she needed, she heartedly agreed with him. Allan Moller had a couple of days off last week and has been doing smaller jobs but he has a major task next week for Vera who, as explained in an earlier 60 seconds is definitely in need of a rewire. Brian Painter told of his client who was going to have five days in the Bahamas, all expenses paid at a luxury location but was dreading it because he had to give a five minute speech at a wedding whilst there. Our Pilgrim discovered a trauma that his client suffered at the age of eleven after being humiliated by a teacher when having to stand up and speak at school. Having fixed the problem the client had a really good time and even enjoyed making the speech…job done.
Tina Walker appeared as the Martini girl; any time any place anywhere and produced quite an effective 60 seconds despite barracking from the Naughty corner.
Ellen Beckenham is clearly looking to introduce us to lots of masks This time it was the full face mask with respirator, surprisingly no Darth Vader quotes nor could she be persuaded to put the mask on.
Anna Marie Cooper rather cleverly demonstrated how we do not quite remember quotes and illustrated how her photography can dismiss any fake memories.
Howard Bullock shied away from doing the walk but otherwise quoted Charlie Chaplin from a silent film. The serious bit is you should start early in planning for retirement and as you get closer to retirement you need less risk in your portfolio….. I am good at lip reading!
The Oscar went to Rupert Miles for a cleverly crafted 60 seconds, well done Rupert, first time he has won the Oscar.
This weeks statistics and points of note
- 22 Members present
- 2 guests
- £13,000.00 worth of business recorded
- 21 referrals

- Oscar Winner Rupert Miles
10-minute presentation by Dean Caldon
Dean Caldon this week managed to put himself through the ringer with computer delays in his slide show presentation. When he did finally get it going his presentation was more than up to standard. Every time Dean sets out his stall before us whether in 60 seconds or 10 minutes he demonstrates how well organised, diligent and honest he is. We should be keeping our eyes open for both sales and lettings for him.
Great meeting – well done Dean on winging it in the end! A true professional…
Well done on everyone in making the effort with your enthusiasm for the film quotes 60 seconds and we even managed to pass referrals and generate business, whats not to like?
Even though our meetings are always excellent, both well humoured AND productive, the theme this week managed to add a little something extra with all our members making an effort . There were some real gems amongst us.
It’s things like this that give our networking group an edge other all others – come along and see for yourselves.
Great meeting everyone with a fun 60 second round too. Well done Rupert on your oscar 🙂 See you all next week
With good grace, Dean didn’t let technology foil his ten minutes and he rose to the occasion.Enjoyed Howard’s monologue from the silent Charlie Chaplin film “The Kid.” I often listen to the music from silent musicals of that era, bit difficult to know when the track has finished. Good meeting.
Great meeting again, Dean very much the professional in the face of technology doing it’s own thing! Brilliant 60 seconds may the force be with you, see you all next week 😊
I love the smell of bacon in the morning!
Great meeting well done Dean very informative 10 minutes even though I got all the valuations way out . Well done Rupert on winning the Oscar.
Hey you guys… another excellent meeting. A brilliant presentation from Dean he is definitely the most trustworthy estate agent I have ever come across.
Well done Dean. As I said at the meeting, your service is outstanding and all of the friends I’ve referred you to over the years feel the same too!
Sorry I missed this one but I was in Rome so my quote would be Infamy , infamy they’ve all got it informe”
I’m going to make him an EBF he can’t refuse!
…. or in the words of Mr Chaplin ” !”
