Absolute Appointments was established in 1999 recruiting both graduate and experienced staff for media and publishing. As the agency has grown, we now offer recruitment solutions across a number of specialist industries.
Simon began his Media Sales career at Haymarket Publishing working across a broad portfolio of business titles and into management by the end of his three and a half years there. Simon was then approached to consider a move into recruitment. He subsequently spent another three years working for a leading consultancy, specialising in placing graduates into their first Media Sales position, before branching out on his own to set up Absolute Appointments in 1999.
Since its launch Absolute Appointments have become key recruiters for many major businesses across several disciplines. We enjoy high retention figures and the knowledge of numerous very satisfied candidates and clients alike.
Unlike larger recruitment consultancies, at Absolute you actually get to deal with ‘adults’ who have worked extensively in the recruitment industry. Additionally, the same ‘adults’ also undertake all recruitment, interviewing and selection of candidates. The result of this is a good quality match to the brief that invariably goes through to 2nd interview and offer stage. We do not waste our client’s time by sending through endless unsuitable CV’s.
Being a smaller-sized consultancy, we are in the enviable position of being able to deal on a more personal level, establishing needs and fulfilling them as appropriately and quickly as possible.
Ultimately our commitment is to make the recruitment and selection process as swift and painless as possible.
Search and Selection
Overall we operate on a search and selection basis. This involves us, through extensive consultation, having a full understanding of each vacancy and its requirements. We then search our database for existing matches; if none are suitable, we will then search and select new candidates.
Hours of Availability
Whilst we operate the usual working hours 9.30 – 6pm Monday to Friday, most members of staff are on call from 8am – 11pm Monday to Friday and afternoons and evenings on Saturday and Sunday.
We believe thorough briefing is essential and usually spend half an hour to an hour briefing candidate prior to them arriving at a client interview. We cover the organisation, career path expectations and commitment, salary and benefits.
All candidates are first discussed with the employer recruiting. An overview of the candidate is given, and the employer can discuss reservations. CV’s are then forwarded by e-mail depending on the manager’s preference.
Our policy with candidate’s CVs is to leave them in their original format. This gives the client the best opportunity to analyse the presentation and content and helps tailor their questioning. If a candidate asks our advice about the CV, we will naturally give it and allow the candidate an opportunity to re-supply a finished CV.
Stage 1 – All candidates are telephone interviewed before being invited in. We test for competences, skills and abilities, any relevant experience and verbal communication. We also make sure the potential candidate understands the role and what is expected of them before committing to an interview.
Stage 2 – During a face-to-face interview we cover their history, their motivations, their skills and abilities and how these are substantiated, their future goals and their understanding of the role. Additionally, we note their dress, body language, eye contact and asses how they will fit into a team and how they will respond to management. Finally, we take the candidate through the role as a career concentrating on the first 3 year’s career path, money and commitment.
