There were 23 again, all champing at the proverbial bit, when we got underway at 7.35am.
The Performance League
After one week Paul Booth is in the lead.
Education Presentation
Paul Booth again, this time warning us of use of language in our 60-second presentations. His message was “don’t send the wrong message” Using the word “Busy” is a no-no. You might give the impression that you aren’t really interested in new work. I recall that it was “activity remaining at high levels” as a recommended alternative!
The 60 Second Round
Not surprisingly busy did not feature as a verb or adjective.
Ben Golding was also adjudicating on the Oscar and was also was the championing mobile unlimited data for £25.00 per month. That’s not utility; it’s excellence.
In the absence of people saying they were busy a lot more were “seriously occupied” Sarah Steel caught the eye…and ear with advising the use of a bank account that allows money pots/jars. Ring-fencing or squirrelling can be appealing.
Nick Cooke, who has been doing a lot of structural surveys of late without being too busy’ mused over the fact that a lot of words that he uses begin with “s”, as well as Structural Surveys that is. All a bit too Sesame Street for me.
Vincent, Mayor of Gants Hill, was advocating FTP, which has the potential of becoming another annoying initialism. No prize unless Scott awards you a point for being the first to tell us what FTP stands for. Clue: it has kept Vincent “occupied”.
Alan Moller without being busy is dealing with bathroom and garden rooms.
Sarah Bell is back at schools.
Howard Bullock and Terry Maylin have both rejected potential clients this week because they “didn’t fit”. Both illustrating how important it is to know when to say no, even if you are not too busy.
Simon Essex was the deserved Oscar winner because he has gone out and made himself busy in a new venture with plants at The Greenhouse.
An entertaining round.
Meeting Secretaries Report
Not the usual statistics, its being early on in the month. Scott Griffiths asked for any suggestions/feedback as to hope we can improve the group. This is something that is always open to members and your thoughts will be welcome.
10-minute presentation by Ben Golding
A visual delight delivered with ultimate confidence. It made reference to an iconic building on the Edgware Road as the Head Office of Utility Warehouse.
Residents of Edgware should be flattered. We were also treated to a video showing Johanna Lumley slumming it in a Mini, and showing us around her mansion (Iconic Building) which clearly benefited from its owner being involved with Utility Warehouse.
Referrals and Testimonials Round
This produced a series of Testimonials as to how Utility Warehouse had worked well for the particular member. It is impressive when all the “questions “ asked amount to a Testimonial. A great presentation.
Great meeting and brilliant Ed slot from Paul!
Thank you everyone for all your kind words following my presentation ( though the unlimited data sim is £20 not £25 so even better 😉 )
See you all next week
By a kiss or a snog I’ll be first to this blog.i
I was gutted to not be able to join the meeting yesterday but really didn’t feel well enough. I’m sure it was, as always, a cracking meeting and look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
P.S. on the Ben Ben/UW testimonial front, my last gas & electric bill was a pretty special £15.20 credited into my bank account! Incredible!
Well done Paul for a timely ed slot, you know it makes sense and also for being the front runner in the points table.
Good 10 minutes, Ben, Ben, you make the Utility whorehouse sound interesting! Looks like being a fine weekend, enjoy it.
Sorry for only being present for part of the meeting. Hopefully normal service will resume next week.
Excellent presentation Ben, that goal scored in the video was outstanding!
A truly excellent meeting once again. Great advice from Paul in the Ed Slot and a terrific ten minute presentation from Ben.
Just to clarify, FTP stands for Fairy Tale Princess. It could be that, or any number of other suitable acronyms.Looking forward to resuming physical meetings – of up to 6 people. I vote for the leadership team (1), the naughty corner (1), and 4 more. Have a lovely weekend.
Great meeting this week and great 10 minutes and ed slot see you all next week.
