25 Members present, some of whom were up with the larks but arrived in the dark, we were then greeted with a bright sunny morning that was in itself as uplifting as the meeting turned out to be.
The Performance League
Only one week gone and Toby Acton is in the lead.
Education Presentation
Vincent Goode, Mayor of Gants Hill was the purveyor of information to us this week. His message related to body language, particularly when we meet new contacts, whether networking or in a sales capacity.
- Maintain eye contact…but don’t stare
- Shake hands ..but only after you have washed them and don’t squeeze too tight (with the hands that is)
- Stand up when you are making an important telephone call even thought the recipient of the call cannot see you and even make sure you are properly dressed for it.
This and many other gems were delivered with the assistance of Paul Booth who did stare, had not washed his hands but did not squeeze the hands too tightly.
The 60 Second Round
Kieran Peaty explained how an awful lot of his contacts were slow burners. A contact back in November 2018 for an extension has just come good.
Tina Walker was next. It was nice to see her back after her two week contact with the National Health system. She looks well despite the pain which she will have to endure until her operation in November. She still wants referrals for all of the usual so please keep her in mind.
Terry Maylin this week has moved into attack mode and has introduced the Sheriff’s Officers to a couple of households; isn’t it nice to see someone enjoying their job.
Brian Painter had a 42 year old stammerer who apparently didn’t stammer when he talked to the dog. It all stemmed from to his mothers high expectations of him as an actor when he was chosen to be in the school play. To be anything other than word perfect would apparently have reflected badly upon her as a teacher. Almost scarred for life Brian had 7 sessions with him and he now barely stammers and another couple should remove the stammer altogether.
Kevin Radford, Bard of Hadleigh, without the assistance of poetic licence reminded everybody that he deals with professional indemnity insurance.
Simon Essex has been dealing with firsts. Last week it was people with first class degrees. This week it was profuse thanks from a mother whose son now has a job thanks to Simon’s involvement.
Vincent Goode was all presentation this week, showing a folder with a fat gusset. You never know what can be useful these days.
Sartorially speaking Howard Bullock was very French Bistro with his red check shirt and Saj Sreedharan and Mason Edwards were sockless.
David Plumley was reminding us of the assets that businesses have and that he could facilitate an essential asset, to wit all of a business’ data.
John Hammond is currently into patient/nursing call systems for care homes so watch out for him.
Anna Marie was awarding the Oscar and it was Saj Sreedharan who caught her eye with the picture of a Ducati Monster in flowers. I think it is fair to say that his wife won him this week’s accolade.
This weeks statistics and points of note
-
25 Members present
-
19 New Referrals
-
£13,500 worth of business recorded
-
Saj Sreedharan was the winner of the Oscar.
10-minute presentation by Stuart Smallcombe
Stuart Smallcombe has been doing 10 minute presentations for many years and he is a practiced presenter.
This week was no different. He introduced us all to VOIP, which stands for voice over internet protocol. Telephone via the internet to you all . His initial demonstration of the delivery of telephone systems through cable and via an exchange did create a nostalgic tang to his presentation but the saving of lump sum investment, the flexibility and the mobility of the system would I think have prompted my old granny to say “…what will they think of next!”.
It really was a useful presentation and will help us make referrals.
Synergy Team Report
Paul Booth reported on the Financial/Business to Business Synergy Team Meeting on Tuesday when disaster recovery was discussed in detail by all present. Very useful and helpful and it mirrored Toby Acton’s 60 seconds presentation today although that was sheer coincidence
well done Stuart in making VOIP easy to understand- loved the props too! Good referals and testimonials round – more points to be had by putting the testimonials in writing!
Great meeting and well done on an excellent turnout !
Yet again another great meeting, even better to see Tina too, best wishes for November!. Great ed slot Vince and an interesting 10 mins too, enjoy the weekend all.
I really enjoyed this morning’s meeting, especially considering I missed out last week. Mind you, sitting on the deck of Celebrity Edge, eating a sumptuous breakfast overlooking the marina at Monte Carlo did not dampen my spirits too much.
Ford’s comment on VOIP tickled me… “It’s come a long way, phones, innit?” High fives to you all.
Firstly, I cant believe Vincent has made it on the Celebrity Edge before me. That is on the list for next year, great meeting and enjoyed the presentation Stuart gave. VOIP is now something I can explain to people when asked, I think!!!
A great meeting and yes of course Stacey’s tribute won the Oscar but it could have been the photography skills??
Brilliant educational slot from Vincent and a fantastic explanation of VOIP from Stuart, every cloud has a silver lining ☁️
Well done to Toby for being in the lead…
Looking forward to next weeks meeting already 🔥
The meeting started well with Vincent’s education slot and just got better. Well done Stuart on a very good 10 minute presentation and Stacey for the wonderful Ducati in flowers that Saj presented.
Sockless? is that a colloquialism for being inebriated? “Saj & Mason were absolutely sockless!”
Brilliant ed-slot from Vince and a brilliant 10-mins from Stu.
Great meeting, great Ed Slot Vince, glad you enjoyed my 10 min. Dont forget to vote kids!
Sorry to miss what sounds like a great meeting! ( held up on a training course! )
So glad Tina is back & healthier!!
Well done to Saj on winning the Oscar!!
See you all next week 😀😀
Great to be back and thank you for all your wishes.. Well done Stu on your 10 minutes now know more about Volp, Good Ed slot Vincent. Great meeting see you all next week. Have a fab weekend.
Great meeting as always. It’s a testament to the quality of our membership that I walked away with introductions to three of the four businesses I explained I’d like to meet. Thanks guys!
Great meeting. Great 10 minutes on VOIP Stuart. Very glad to see Tina back
Yes. Great meeting! Enjoyed the Ed Slot from Vince and Stuart’s layman’s explanation of VOIP (I’m glad I am not the only one who needed it in simple words!) Worthy Oscar win for the man who supplied me with an awesome bouquet of flowers last week!
Enjoyable meeting, well done to the winners. Both Chairman and Social Secretary absent next week, I suggest a prorogue. Pina coladas on the beach, as they say someone has to do it.
Love being back at the EBF meetings, as each week there is great fun but also great business opportunity’s. Great 10 minutes to Stuart – agree with Jill definitely up there with the best presentations! Look forward to seeing you all these week 🙂
Sounds like I missed a good one. Great to hear that Tina is back and loving her flowers and well done to Stacey for winning the Oscar. See you all next Thursday.
