On a day which I anticipate will be the last weekly meeting where the school holidays impinge we were 20 Members and 1 visitor; Tim Heard who has made an application to join.
The EBF Performance League
Paul Booth was August’s winner with well over 400 points congratulations Paul. He now has sufficient EBF Certificates, such as the one that he received today, to enable him to call them “wallpaper” rather than refer to them as individual paper accolades.
Education Presentation
Paul Booth, at his multi-tasking best, referred us to the Activity Slips and the importance of filling them in. In particular the importance of filling in details of monies received as a result of a referrals from members of the group. The presentation generated some group interaction which also helped emphasise the basis and importance of completing said slips.
New Member Induction
Over this holiday period it looks as if we have attracted 2 new Members, today being the first the induction of Mike Feuer who is now a fully-fledged Member – Welcome Mike.
The 60 Second Round
Ben Golding sans “piggy” emphasised this week the benefit of putting all of your utility bills under one roof through his organisation.
Richard Reed wants you to recommend a friend and will provide discounts for a friend and awards to you. It seems a no brainer. He then produced a picture of what looked like what to all intents and purposes could have been a Portuguese Man of War. Apparently this is relaxed luxury sailing only interrupted by the need occasionally to sprint up the rigging and leap into the crow’s nest to check that there was nothing dangerous out there.
I always like to look for themes. First one was all about communication. Stuart Smallcombe was peddling the “voice over internet telephone” which is incredibly useful for communicating in both customers and other work colleagues when you are working from home. John Hammond was flogging intercom systems be it 1.2.1. or 1 to multiple locations, once again all of about communication.
Ben Golding had, in addition to referring to having the benefits of having all bills under one roof, referred to 3 “S”s, one of them referred Services, can’t remember what the other 2 were. No prize for who can supply the other 2 “S”s in the comments to this Blog. David Plumley was also talking about the 3 “S”s, Supply Service and Support. It only lost something in the telling by virtue of his referring to Ben Golding as Vincent Goode. Can’t win them all David!
Alan Moller was simply trotting out what he had been doing this week but suddenly caught all of our attention by telling us of his customer Vera. She’d apparently has rubberised cabling. This rubberised product is not safe, not suitable and not a sex toy. Next week he is going to sort it out for her with a full rewire.
Brian Painter has now revealed all. Tim’s subconscious reveals how the loss of a toy car triggered his overreaction to an old lady cutting him up on the road. The treatment of unlocking his subconscious to persuade it to effectively disregard this earlier memory of his childhood was both intricate and not as straight forward as it sounds. The main benefit of Brian finally finishing his story is that presumably we get something different next week. I am rather missing the toxic elements connected with smoking.
Kevin Radford was awarding the Oscar this week and he awarded it to Terry Maylin. The theme of Terry Maylin’s 60 seconds was that he has made a new friend. This is the second irate debtor that he has chased who has initially responded angrily with suggestions that Terry do things that are frankly impossible even if he wanted to do them; but it all finished up sweetness and light. He is looking for other debtors to have similar conversations with and friendships made.
This weeks statistics and points of note

10-minute presentation by Mason Edwards
Mason Edwards’ first 10 mins produced a professional brochure for us all and then gave us a slide show as he ran through the Company’s history and more importantly exactly what services they offer. If we are to continue looking for themes, Ellen Beckenham was encouraged to put on what she called “a half mask” which she uses when she goes about her business. Mason continued in his 10 minutes to show how they sometimes have to go about their business using protective gear that includes a protective mask.
A great first presentation and more importantly very much to the point in getting over to us all exactly what the full extent of his services are.
Welcome to Mike and well done to Mason. Great meeting and looking forward to next week’s meeting.
