Chairman’s Blog – Meeting Thursday 12th April 2012
Slightly depleted ranks through holidays and illness, but we still managed 28 in all with 3 guests, Ben Keevil, Manager of the Rising Sun, Billericay and Suresh Kumar and Nishanth Reddy of Avenir Business Solutions.
Claire Greenslade offered her apologies for non attendance as a result of an early morning visit to Accident and Emergency – I hope all is well Claire and I look forward to your induction as our most recent recruit next week.
The 60 second round was sort of joined up this week.
Adrian Crosdale tried his best to make energy saving sound sexy – “you wouldn’t like someone to turn you on and then walk out of the room”. Steve Carmichael-Brown has been trying to do this for months with varying degrees of success. This week he welcomed us to the “wonderful world of renewable energy”. Either should get together with Scott Griffiths to assist his Client who either wanted to or suffered from erectile dysfunction.
Everybody seemed to have been involved in exciting things this week other than me. Graham Thurston was laying a carpet as artificial grass, Geoff Todd was suggesting artificial grass, Michael Adelizzi has been handling very big tiles and Andy Smith never tires of mentioning tyres. After all this my head was spinning – what I really needed was an Indian Head Massage and a nice glass of raki from Joan Jaggernauth. Quite what that has to do with the letter “B” I don’t know.
For Dawn Ribnell the 60 seconds (or more) seemed prompted by some soul searching and became an extended apology for past absences. For absolution she needs look no further than the newly self appointed High Priestess of EBF, Anita Reynolds, who burst into prayer, had us all bursting in to applause and quite rightly won the Oscar. Indeed Richard Reed’s enthusiastic 10 minutes included a reference to arranging a wedding in Las Vegas. Richard, you also need look no further than an EBF meeting on a Thursday. Anita can conduct the service. For all Richard’s urgings Geoff Todd declared his loyalty to his caravan. I suppose you have got to make the most of it whilst your horse is still alive Geoff!!
Referrals and testimonials round was rather low key after the heights reached in the previous 2 weeks, but Dawn produced 6 (or was it 7) referrals which received a deserved round of applause.
I am looking forward to receiving the innards for our new folders which looked very smart. For those of you who did not attend a very smart new folder awaits you next week – let’s see if we can have a bumper attendance.
“May all your mornings be Thursday mornings.”
