Our attendance varied this week but at its best it was 29. Lots of banter pre meeting and one visitor Nicky Baker.
The Performance League
Mike Rogers has been knocked off his perch by newbie Neil Bellham who has 200 points to Mike’s 194
Education Presentation
It was Nick Cooke’s turn and his theme was the value of Google reviews to a business and accordingly why we should ask our customers/clients to do one if they appear happy with our services.
An addendum by Scott Griffiths reminded us of equally how valuable they are to EBF.
The 60 Second Round
Neil Bellham was awarding the Oscar this week.
Members locations were a little more varied this week. Alan Moller was in a conservatory somewhere, John Hammond started out not on the road but as is frequently the case finished up there. Nick Cook, by delivering the Education Slot as well as his 60 seconds gave us all plenty of time to examine his office, which gives the impression that everything has a place but only he knows where the places are. As always I was particularly drawn to the lumberjack style jacket sharing a peg with other garments immediately behind him. I could swear that it had not moved since last week, or the week before, or ….. Has he in fact got one of those backdrop things because he suffers from officebarrisment. By contrast, Matt Barry was outdoors. He addressed us from a park bench, presumably feeling confident that his boasted haircut would make sure he was not mistaken for a vagrant. He even showed us his dog in an attempt to justify his being outdoors. The reality was that his staff were now all back in the office and there was no room for him. Neil was impressed and awarded him the Oscar.
And so what of the rest.
Kevin Radford was in metaphorical mood. Maybe the best metaphors are the unbelievable ones, he was supposedly helping his Missus doing the washing up when he lost his sponge. This scenario did not seem to compare with the perceived reality of the Radford household. Household however was the relevant word. That was the insurance he was alluding to, this together with the addons needed to deal with accidental damage or loss were baffling. Truth be told, all you need to do is buy your household insurance from him, I know I do!
Tina Walker has a new client! They make shop front shutters which makes them probably easier to act for than pronounce.
Two members who are clearly very busy are Kieran Peaty, he is having to expand his empire with another person joining him and Mason Edwards who currently has jobs coming out of his ears and has all 60 members of staff back working. He joined us later in the meeting but declared himself clear from next week onwards.
Toby Acton has found a new source of clientele; young (or even old) mums, he is managing however to deal with them all whilst deep diving.
Mike Skinner showed us his drones at work. The bloke on the motor cycle would probably been better off airborne but the presentation was impressive.
The Mayor of Gants Hill wants us all to make people happy by getting us to order personalised “Thank you” cards from him. In rather Pickwickian style, he urged hand written notes that we could send to our customers and friends through the Royal. Mail. Ah! happy memories.

More a justifiable rant. Get your entries on the web site updated. I intend to do mine after I have finished this Blog.
10-minute presentation by Ben Golding
With 2 videos and the 3 “S”s Ben Golding entertained us whilst reminding us of the many advantages of UW. Joanna Lumley, sporting a face lift to die for, led into his own definition of the 3 “S”s namely Saving, Simplicity, and Service…what’s yours!
Une excellente reunion, comme toujours. Passe une bonne semaine!
Thank you for a splendid meeting. The pre meeting banter was as ever, very entertaining. I managed to have x 2 one-minute mutes in the sin bin for slightly less than appropriate comments. I’m going to try to beat this record next week
Great meeting. Also liking this new system of muting troublemakers 😂
Thank you Neil for the Oscar – I plan to do more ‘al fresco’ 60 seconds in the future. sorry I had to miss the rest of the meeting but have enjoyed catching up via video.
Arrived late / left early. Poor show on my part (blame her-indoors).
Enjoy the weather & see you all next week.
No sooner had I used my French O level to translate paul d’s comments when I received an offer from Le Manior aux quat Saisons to have “el munch ” (I wasnt very good at French) . A very enjoyable meeting that helped me get over the loss of the washing up sponge. .
Fine Anglo-French meeting.Well done Ben Ben. If you get a couple more converts we can call ourselves “the Utility Warehouse Forum.” Had a bit of a senior moment during the referrals round, I stimbled over my worms!
Well done Ben on your presentation and great ed slot Nick. Have a great weekend everyone see you all next Thursday.
Good meeting everyone, next week i’m bringing my dog.
Sorry folks, sounds like I missed a good one. Apologies but I had to be in London early.
Another Fantastic meeting. Bens 10-minute presentation was very enlightening.
I was only on the road pre-meeting :). Just had the builders fitting a new door to my house. Nicks education slot and Vincent’s following email about google reviews was most helpful
A fantastic meeting with a valuable Ed Slot from Nick and a stimulating 10 mins from Ben (I am always stimulated when it comes to Joanna Lumley)
