The weather broke (thunder storms!) just for the duration of the meeting. Now it’s back to warm and sticky again.
By way of 3D, Alan Moller was on our zoom screen and also parked on my drive. ( that’s all you need to know.)
At one stage we were 23 in number but without Scott Griffiths, Terry Marylin was host jointly with Tina.
The Performance League
Terry Maylin stood in for Scott Griffiths and gave us the standings. Toby Acton is out front followed by Terry Maylin himself and Paul Dulieu. It’s only the first week so all to play for.
Education Presentation
Paul Dulieu’s first time and a slide show heralded a detailed examination of the positives (and potential man traps) of being your own boss. The basic message was “look after yourself” even join a networking group!! Good start Paul
The 60 Second Round
It was that Dulieu again. Last week’s Oscar Winner kicked off as usual. He’s dreaming of his hols in Devon.
Kieran Peaty produced a video showing a site clearance; if he had done the building as well we could have been able to watch the paint dry.
Simon Essex is doing freelance for Mason’s recruiting. He didn’t quite know how to designate himself with his changing circumstances. My suggestion for going forward “Simply Simon”.
Sarah Bell joined late explaining that she was experiencing a quiet time (clearly sleep-inducing).
Toby Acton is trying to get his disciples, to think “outside the box”. Paul Booth has already done that; he has found this really clever software to use with Zero which can spot unclaimed VAT. Very clever!!.
Sarah Steel is to become a star of radio with a 10-minute slot. Tell us where and when we will be there.
Kevin Radford urged us to check out insurance if we are working from home, particularly if you see clients there.
John Hammond has been engaged this week in trying to stop people with dementia escaping.
Mason Edwards has this week been faced with stupid clients and clever employees who took part in the “2 toilets race” which I will not describe further. Terry Maylin was also complaining about numpties and Alan Moller, who is constantly warning us that you can’t polish a turd also warned us to make sure we get someone who can do the job well the first time rather than charge twice for doing the job badly both times. Hiring him will achieve the former.
Pride of place as Oscar Winner went to Brian Painter who told of a light bulb moment which induced him to tread on the feet of a girl who was bemoaning the fact that her feet were too small.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Terry Maylin reported last month’s Business Recorded as £45,000.00 which was a good effort.
10-minute presentation by Sarah Steel
Sarah Steel’s debut was a very confident presentation that amply demonstrated why she is good at Webinars. Every one came away wiser,
And what a great driveway you have Aidan!, always happy to support our fellow members through the current situation and congratulations Sarah on breaking the egg on your 1st 10 minute presentation, mine this week on location showing a garden office/retreat area. See you all Thursday morning!, cheers Alan
A thoroughly enjoyable meeting, as always. See you all in a fortnight. I’m busy eating my body weight in scones and clotted cream.
Whoo!! First in! (If I post fast)
Great debut 10 minutes from Sarah… also Paul’s Ed Slot really resonated with me… really good meeting
Damn… Alan beat me by seconds!
It’s a tie as far as I can see Toby 🙂
A comprehensive education slot from Paul the younger, very important to make time for ourselves. Money talks, Sarah’s talk on the importance of money education was spot on. Well done Terry for your Scott impersonation. see you Thursday.
Having been away to “God’s own County” last week I mised you lot but going somewhere dfferent was rewarding for my soul. I’ll be catching the video later.
Many congrats to Paul D. for topping our charts in July, an excellent achievement for a “newbie” and it’s good to see that plenty of business is still being passed amongst us.
Have a good week everyone.
Congrats to Sarah for getting that 1st 10-mins out there. Nicely done!
