The meeting maxed out at 30. 9.22am was the start time which caught out one or two members.
The Performance League
After one week Sarah Steel is in the lead, closely followed by Alan Moller and Tina Walker.
Education Presentation
Paul Booth delivered nothing fancy. Just an acknowledgement of the dynamic that the more of us there are, the more referrals there will be. Introducing visitors to the group should be front and centre of our thinking. There are also other (not to be sniffed at) specific benefits. £20 vouchers and performance league points to name the two.
Membership Matters
Terry Maylin reported that Matt Barry and John Hammond have had their membership renewed for another year….great news!
The 60 Second Round
Mike Skinner, in a former life, was a surgeon, tree that is! Whilst he makes exceedingly good videos he can help on matters arboriculturally. He was also judging the Oscar this week.
Because it always makes me smile I am bound to mention Nicky Baker emphasising her “hands on treatment”.
Jane Malyon confidently informed us that her name rhymes with Stallion and Galleon. More importantly, she has been involved in a brownie/fudge debate far too serious for rhymes.
David Plumley was talking data, not the Star Trek character but the preservation and recovery of it. The trick apparently is not to lose it in the first place.
Wise words from Alison Bean, “give your best to yourself and not what’s left”
Matt Barry entertained us with a slide show depicting how you can get it wrong when you don’t get professional help with your marketing.
The Mayor of Gants Hill declared that business cards are starting to return as we start to return to the workplace.
It is National Pig Week and Ben Golding did not let us down. The pink piggy made a long-awaited return. Now we were rocking! Paul Dulieu, feeling it might look as if he was zooming from a pig pen emerged into his garden and produced a sort of Outside Broadcast. He was immediately followed by Toby Acton, master of the extended metaphor, who positively flew through a detailed analogy of business progression from A to B by reference to all sorts of vehicle-related assistance that a car mechanic/enthusiast could give. A Tour de Force!!!
Alan Moller, from his van again (I do miss the sofa) remembered Jane and her rhymes and reminded us that his surname rhymed with Top Dollar. There is nothing wrong with doggerel.
Some Stella performances but Mike Skinner most impressed with Kieran Peaty’s “ mea culpa” in vowing more 1-2-1s than you could shake a stick at. Good Decision!
Meeting Secretaries Report
Scott Griffiths declared his survey, regarding the dream of getting back to normal, a success. If you haven’t filled it in yet please do so. The results will prove a useful tool for the Board in planning the way forward.
10-minute presentation by Alison Bean
This presentation told us all we needed to know about Alison Bean’s business. An ideal introductory 10 minutes which set everything we could possibly want before us. Really well put together it hardly warranted questions afterwards, but we managed some all the same.
A highly entertaining meeting and we did finish at 8.46.
Spot the Hare
Some controversy this morning on the placement of the hidden hare. Scott Griffiths positioned the hare where it rightfully should be – outside near the grass, but this was considered breaking the rules as “it wasn’t even in the same room” and therefore didn’t count!!!
1000 points deducted from Scott for such reckless behaviour even though Mike Rogers and Jane Malyon did manage to find it (they still get their points).
PS – 1000 bonus points awarded to Scott for coming up with the “hare hiding” idea in the first place and supplying our little statue.
Great first presentation Alison really interesting in what you do also great Ed slot Paul B and again another great meeting. Great hiding place Scott for the hare when Jane said that she saw you I kept looking and looking LOL Have a great weekend and see you all next week.
Apologies to Alison for missing her debut 10mts and to all for my absence.
Good 60 seconds by all, pity some took 75! Timely reminder by Paul on the importance of visitors. Excellent presentation by Alison. Enjoy a sunny weekend.
Well done Alison a very confident and professional presentation! Good reminder Paul about importance of visitors and Happy Birthday Vince ( or was that last week:) )
A superb meeting, as always, and an excellent 10 minutes by Alison. Have a good week everyone!
I’m not sure this points system is completely transparent…
Fab presentation Alison m’dear. Oh but Scott, my surname is Malyon not Maylon. Maylon only rhymes with Draylon not Galleon or Stallion. Sigh! 😀
I’m just the publisher, not the author.
Have corrected our Chairmans typo for you though x
Lol. Cheers! 😀
Great meeting with an inspiring 10 minutes, insightful ed slot and many entertaining (not quite 60) 60 seconds!
Well done Alison Excellent stuff. Thank you Paulo Booth for the reminder that we need visitors who are the lifeblood of the group. Sorry to Howard for cutting you off again in mid flow, it was a very interesting 90 seconds though 😎
Very happy with my Oscar win, thank you Mr Skinner! Well done Alison with your great presentation and also to Paul B on a wonderful Ed-slot. Excellent meeting and looking forward to doing it again on Thursday. Take care all.
