Chairman’s Business Networking Blog Thursday 29th May 2014.
Given the holidays, a reasonable turnout; 18 members and 1 visitor Sophie Eades of Suprema.
David Plumley’s Ed Slot examined how you should manage your busy and quiet times and the concept of under promising and over performing. It was further notable for the wiggle/wriggle debate and that should you give yourself “wiggle room” or “wriggle room”. My preference is for wriggle, what’s yours?
Graham Wright has not been well following his operation and has been back in hospital as reported by Alan Shaw. He will be coming out of hospital shortly and our best wishes go to him.
Paul Booth, who put in a welcome appearance in the face of adversity (daughter’s birthday) seemed to manage the ceremonial present opening with attending the meeting. This was a good effort that had the added spice of having Paul as the first to deliver his offering in the 60 second round rather than his usual spot at the end. He was looking for “nice clients” and the round went on to reflect “nice” things.
Michael Adelizzi with his daughter now presents 2 “smiley faces” when you attend his emporium. Jenni Pritchard was a nice addition to the meeting after her absence following her operation. She was wearing a smiley face and it was nice to see her back in action.
Marcelle Saad and Peter Hood both were advertising their additional/smaller jobs. Marcelle with semi precious stones, design and re-modelling and Peter Hood catching up on small jobs at a not too busy time as advised by David Plumley in his Ed Slot.
Allan Moller produced the saying of the meeting “do it right; only do it once!”
Brian Painter is looking for people who do not like birds; actually to be more precise, he is looking for people with phobias which could include aforementioned dislike of our avian friends. It was left to Kevin Radford to produce the first of 2 quizzes. He sounded like a character from Sesame Street extolling the virtues of the letter “B” he did it cheerfully and with a little rhyme at the end and left no doubt at to where the Oscar should go. What’s this about quizzes I might hear you say. Actually I hope anybody who attended the meeting would not be asking such a question.
Dean Caldon gave a very effective 10 minute presentation that ended with a quiz and this decided who won the speaker’s prize; a very effective and professional presentation. Certain estate agents give their business a bad name. Dean goes a long way to dispelling any such prejudices, a very good performance!
Richard Read’s absence through illness left me without a usual fall guy for my Blog. His subsequent round robin about a cheap deal in Las Vegas seemed to provide a suitable venue for a “stag do”. Nice to see you are feeling better Richard.
The Referrals and Testimonials round was relatively quiet but comforting session.
Next week we should have put holidays behind us for a while. Let’s try and get a bumper attendance. In the meantime, visitor to look for the week is a printer.
Excellent meeting everyone, such a good group and it’s a privilege being a member, see you all next week…. ps definitely Wiggle room!
Well done Dean. I believe you have presented once before so we can call this your second storey!
Definitely wriggle. Wiggle is something associated with Marilyn Monroe and not a follicly challenged Ed Slot presenter!
Yes good presentation Dean and good lively 60 seconds session – remember if you know of anyone with Spanish law problems let me know and I will put them in touch with my new contact Jonathan.
Sorry I missed it guys, and apologies to Dean. Had a bad night and just couldn’t do it this week but, as with many of us, had to work on regardless – especially as I was away for a couple of days from early on the Friday. See you all next week.
Great blog. So much better than the rubbish that was posted last week!
