The Performance League
Scott gave the weekly report on the performance league and in 3rd place was Terry Maylin. In second place was Toby Acton and the leader of the performance league was Jane Malyon
Education Presentation
The education slot was undertaken by Vincent Goode in place of Ben Ben who is unfortunately ill. The education slot was about putting words in the right order, either use them or lose them. Apparently “set” has 430 definitions! The Germans are the best at incorporating one word into another and the French steal our words and use them as their own. Vinces’ word of the day is TMESIS!
The 60 90 Second Round
We had a lively 60 second round led off by last week’s Oscar winner Toby Acton and thereafter we took our turn alphabetically rather than the time at which we arrived at the meeting this proved rather more challenging for some than others.
Toby told us that he has been carrying out coaching sessions with Sarah Steele and this has proved very useful for him and her.
Brian Painter talked about a lady who attended with a phobia but that she would not reveal what the phobia was and so it had to be referred to as “X”.
Fran Brabham-Neil told us that she is looking for landlords who have decided to sell their properties and she would try and encourage them to get their tenants to stay while the property is up for sale.
Jane Malyon told us that she is experimenting with ice cream and a flake on a scone with a vendor at Norwich market in addition she had some vodka and other liqueurs for sale with her today at knock-down prices if anybody was interested.
Leanne Reason told us that she is looking for people who are buying properties hallway families need to reconfigure their home to make it work for them as well as air B and B’s or rental properties
Melissa Jackson informed us that as well as court proceedings her company also deals with informal arrangements with creditors including refinancing AND restructuring so that the business does not fold.
Mike Skinner says he’s looking for companies that he wants to promote and market their business and he will get to know them and be a part of their marketing team
Scott Griffiths has been working with toilets, pest control, ice cream and glass balustrades helping companies move up the Google rankings by good search engine optimization including geographical areas that the customer wants to promote in.
Stuart Smallcombe gave reasons why to choose us firstly they are independent second they are not the cheapest but do offer the best value and thirdly they are honest if they can’t do it they will tell you they cannot do it.
Tina Walker said that lots of VAs’ outsource their work and therefore you do not get the person you thought was going to do your work doing it she can help with meetings reports workshops conferences and so on.
Vince said that his company does order of service for funerals but also for weddings and he showed some examples of these to the group.
Brian Painter was adjudged by Toby to have made the best presentation and duly won the Oscar
10-minute presentation by Melissa Jackson
Jane then introduced this weeks 10-minute speaker who was Melissa Jackson of Kenway Francis. Melissa gave her presentation in relation to what happens if a bankruptcy order is made. What happenes to the assets, how long is the person bankrupt, how much it costs and also gave some examples of other things that could be done instead of bankruptcy and finally what happens upon discharge from bankruptcy. Following the presentation there were some excellent questions put to Melissa who answered them expertly.
Referrals and Testimonials
There followed a lively and entertaining referral and testimonial round in which Tina Walker won a prize for remembering how much the court fee was on bankruptcy. There was then a draw of referrals to see who won the speakers prize and it was Paul Booth who won a lovely bottle of wine.
At the end of the meeting Jane reminded us of the Essex business forum summertime party on the 29th of July at around lunchtime at her premises with partners and family welcome.
Shame about the very low numbers in attendance, but it was a lively and enjoyable meeting. Paul Booth was outstanding as my glamorous assistant, next week I’ll have him pulling rabbits from a hat. A very good blog to whomever claims responsbility for it, and well done to Jane who became our first female chairman(woman/person)
