Hi guys, its me again the mystery guest blogger (Kevin Radford).
Our beloved chairman was away today, so I thought I would step into the fray.
There you are Brian that’s the rhyming bit out of the way (although it does, that bit wasn’t part of the Ryhme)
Only 18 splendid soles today but who knew at the outset that this was going to be a meeting of chaos and mayhem and in my opinion one of the best we have had in a while.
It all started well ,with a warm fuzzy feeling as Michael Adelizzi returned to our ranks today to wish us all a happy Christmas and promising to return as soon as possible in the new year once his treatment was complete . You certainly looked well Michael, it was great to see you, and on behalf of everybody, I wish you all the best for the next phase and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Stuart Smallcombe delivered another excellent education slot all about how to engage with people when you attend a networking event for the first time. He chose Paul to assist him this time and I did feel slighted but thought this was probably because my good looks and comic timing last time stole the limelight . But then I realised that it was because Paul’s acting skills, pretending to be a dull, boring accountant were amazing, good enough to win the Oscar . I think it right to add here that Paul is anything but a dull boring accountant – although he is an accountant.
Then the chaos descended ,Brian jumped about the agenda like a kangaroo on heat, Scott forgot all his secretary stuff and the appointment of Alan as the bell man meant that chaos was inevitable – In Alan’s defence, Brian, he did warn you that he couldn’t multi task, although I don’t suppose you realised this meant timing to sixty seconds and then ringing the bell.
Somehow we made it to the sixty seconds .
Graham told us that he did small moves, I did notice that he swayed a bit and one hand definitely went to the pocket so demonstrating the small moves adequately.
Dear old Brian suggested that those of us of a certain age who find it difficult to sleep might like to peer into our neighbours windows to see who else suffered from this affliction and then present them with one of Brian’s cards. When you get arrested I am sure that Terry our resident solicitor could explain that it was only to get a referral, honestly officer.
Alan Shaw then delivered a masterclass on how to analyse materials and amongst his props was a piece of buffed steel that resembled something of a gun. When someone mentioned the resemblance, Alan whilst waving the piece around, revealed that it was in fact a single shot world war one single shot pistol. Least I think that’s what he said because like the rest of the members I was under the table at that time in case the bloody thing went off.
Nothing was quite the same after that – I delivered a rather excellent piece about making sure that you remembered to increase your sums insured when you receive all your bright shiny gifts at Christmas and then it all got rather confusing as Stuart was looking for a David, and Terry was looking for a Dean (not the cleric type) and Danielle was looking for people who were clueless – I must confess that I nearly put my hand up.
Paul brought us all back to reality when he gave us tips for the xmas dinner table when the conversation dries up – such gems as “Have you completed your self assessment tax return yet “ are bound to get the party started –mmm perhaps I was a little hasty on my defence of Paul .
The Oscar awarded by Tina went to Stuart, the reason –Stuart had explained in his 60 seconds that their work was all about laying the communication cables which often meant they were down on their knees getting dirty in ditches and for some reason this appealed to Tina.
It was probably a good time for the breakfast to arrive, after which Janice delivered an excellent 10 minute presentation explaining clearly how she can help you to get things done in your business. This was her first presentation and was delivered very professionally.
Some good news to finish – £22,000 of business passed and 12 new referrals and also that Ian, our printer guest from last week enjoyed the meeting so much that he will be joining us in the New Year.
Come back Aidan and Mike the bellman, all is forgiven
Great blogging Kevin and I’n now going to tweet it….
Even though only 18 attended it was a cosy meeting! well done to Janice on her first 10 minutes and to Alan Shaw on his terrible timekeeping – certainly made it more fun today and l am already looking out for my secret santa present for that lucky person i drew in the hat!
Thanks Janice – When you say you are going to tweet it ,does that mean you are going to prance about making chirping noises. If so I think we should get Alex over to put that on film.
Stupid Boy Pike !
And you all thought that chairing the meeting was a doddle,I hope that my performance! has convinced you that it isn’t, it’s just that Aidan makes it look easy! Great blog by the Bard, couldn’t tell it from one of the aforementioned Aidan’s. Good performance by Paul, he really did make accountancy sound dull and thanks, Paul, for the interesting questions we can ask when there’s a lull in the conversation during Christmas lunch. Excellent 10 mins from Janice. Congrats to “Dirty Stuart” for winning the Oscar.
s
Great to see Mie there this morning. And a good 10 mins from Janice. Brian filled the “chair” well … probaby the size of his breakfast!
er … “Mike”
Well done Janice on getting your first 10 minute presentation out the way, great to see Mike attend too.
I am not sure if Brian hypnotised me yesterday ,as at precisely 2.30 this morning I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. Remembering his 60 seconds ,I peered out of the window (carefully mind as I didn’t want to be seen() to stare at my neighbours houses. No lights im afraid ,even the accountant was soundo. It must be due to all that money he has stuffed in his mattress . Mind you Mrs B has the coins on her side so you think she might have been awake.
It sounds if I come back it will be to rescue you all from chaos. I have perhaps a false impression that the lunatics have taken over the asylum. Good to see Michael back for a meeting.
Delighted to receive lots of praise but I must confess I wasn’t acting. Well done to Janice on an excellent 1st 10 minutes.
Sounds like I missed an eventful meeting! Sorry I missed your first 10 minutes Janice, maybe we can have to have a 121 in the new year to make up for it? I saw Michael earlier in the week and he mentioned he was going to try and get back in when he was up to it, glad to hear he is recovering well. Great blog Kevin, well done!
