Fourteen in attendance and the first meeting proper of EBF Billericay.
The first five members were duly inducted (that’s why it was the first meeting proper!!!) For the record and in order of arrival; James Henshaw, Anne Clarke, Robert Mayes, Adam Hotson and Stuart Oldham. There are others out there who were not able to attend this week and guests from today who expressed a positive interest and most importantly, took away a membership application forms. Let’s look forward to at least another 5 next week!!
New members were encouraged to look out for possible new members themselves. Remember that there is a direct correlation between numbers in attendance and referrals passed……Enough of this I hear you say, what actually happened!!
Well, quite a lot really.
The 60 second round let us all take stock of what we all did. Nigel Kirby, plumber extraordinaire, told a very old joke about theft of toilets and Police having nothing to go on. Jokes about toilets always go down well with a British audience. Andy Westley, our aerials man should be a valuable source of oneliners. Today it was no “interference” whilst he was on a roof fitting an aerial. This got a good “reception”. Come back again Andy…please.
It was left to Brian Painter to explain how hypnotherapy helped a man who got stuck in a lift, stuck in an underground train and stuck in an aeroplane in turbulence. Basically Brian unstuck him. I can assure you all that he is much less appealing when he talks about smoking!
The “Oscar” was awarded for the best 60 second presentation and this was given to Andy. He now has the task of awarding the same Oscar at next weeks meeting to whomever he thinks performs best.
Stuart Oldham bravely took up the first 10 minute slot and talked about “the cloud”. Eyes clouded over and outside the clouds gathered…he talked about Australia where they do not get clouds, I think a 1-2-1 might be needed. Well done Stuart, an excellent effort.
Also thanks to Stuart a fantastic prize was awarded in our first “Speakers prize” draw. Adam Hotson won a days free consultancy from Stuart which was very generous with all in attendance hoping to win.
And so our meeting drew to a close. Once again our venue had come up to scratch with an excellent breakfast. If the Ivory rooms did lifts probably no one would ever get stuck in them.
Looking forward to a good turnout next week.
Good turn out again for the third Billericay EBF meeting which I am sure will soon have as many members as the Brentwood group, look forward to seeing everyone again next week
Well done to the new members and visitors for their 60 seconds and a particular well done to Stuart.
So it’s true every “cloud” does have a silver lining!
