Chairman’s Business networking Blog Tuesday 1st July 2014.
19 in all present including Kim-Redwood-Lee and Danielle White from Redwood Clarke standing in for Anne Clarke.
A different meeting this week. Gone was the Education Slot and the 10 minute presentation to be replaced by a training session delivered by Scott Griffiths. More of that later!
Reasons to be cheerful
1. Debra Glover won the performance league for June – well done Debra, a great effort in her first month of membership.
2. Lewis Hackney was inducted as our most recent new member.
3. Ian Stanley, a visitor last week, sent his apologies for absence and an indication that he will be attending next week tooled up to join.
So far as the 60 second Round was concerned, Debra Glover is obviously going to be as explicit in her case studies as Brian Painter, without perhaps being quite as gruesome. My breakfast remained fairly anchored to my stomach as she described a client who had scarring following work to her cruciate ligament and her 17 year old daughter with acne both of whom benefited from her products.
As she delivered something that is good for health, the message from Paul Lefever and Dean Smith were also aimed at our health.
Paul warned of fuse boards catching fire and to make sure these are checked, preferably by him and Dean Smith was offering a free roof survey to make sure bits didn’t fall off and land on the unfortunate house owner or his guests.
As for the rest of us, solid performances but frankly – boring!!, although Debra picked Christine’s offering, using examples of the printed product in the shape of folders as being sufficiently clear and well presented to deserve the Oscar – well done Christine.
Apart from a brief report on the Finance Groups first Synergy Team Meeting and the suggestion that you all watch this space for the next one. More latterly a good referrals and testimonials round.
The rest of the meeting was Scott Griffith’s training presentation, “What is a referral?” which topic included what wasn’t a referral and generally everything you needed to know about what is central to a networking group. It is the passing of referrals and the promotion of our fellow members to enable that to happen that is fundamental. Well presented, this was an effective way of delivering educational materials and hopefully inspire future referrals and testimonials rounds in the weeks to come. Thanks very much Scott.
That your lot for this week… but I would invite you all to comment on the impression that the training session had on you.
It’s great to see us girls doing so well in the group… far too much favouritism between the boys in recent months for the oscar LOL
As for boring? Did you fall asleep during the meeting? …similar amount of banter as usual it seemed – even though a little thin on the ground. Holiday season is kicking in soon… so maybe some holiday themed 60 second rounds starting next week to liven things up?
No, boring
I thought Kieron’s iPad addition to his 60 seconds was pretty good. Along with my ‘topical’ August WWI edition, which I am working on…
no boring
What would make it less boring for you Aidan? I don’t find ‘No boring’ constructive criticism…
It’s not meant to be constructive, only provocative.
Well I enjoyed it, infact so much that I lost track of time. What I thought was 25 minutes became 50!
I am sure this blog…and the subsequent synergy group meeting Wednesday (which was excellent)….has been the kick up the a*se that maybe we need. Its a great group…and i’m 100% pleased to be in it….and I’m sure if we all focus on what it is we’re there for…as well as having a bit of banter….then the successes will begin to show. Personally I thought Scott’s piece was right on the money. We’re all getting to know each other better now….so lets make this work for all of us in Billericay!!!
