Billericay Meeting Tuesday 11th June 2013
14 present including new visitor Barry Haeger and visitors from Brentwood meeting, Mike Rogers and John Probert
Paul Booth delivered the Ed slot and usefully illustrated how to recognise referrals whilst at the same time providing stunning opening gambits for parties when you might be at a loss as to what to say. For example, “..are you satisfied with your current accountant’s prices and performance…” It works even better if the person you turn to happens to be an accountant!!
Scott Griffiths produced the first performance league information and you all had a chance to look at how it is made up. Adam Hotson is our current leader It’s referrals and invited visitors that get you the points!!
The 60 second round produced one or two little gems. Mike Rogers is an insurance broker who visits you in the “comfort and convenience of your own home” and “looks after you from cradle to grave”, it was the sort of pitch that was as likely to get a marriage proposal as a referral. As he did get a referral it is just as well that there were no unattached women sat around the table.
Nige Kirby had a different pair of shorts on from last week….different not cleaner. Not only that, he had props with him; an interesting-looking probe and a “cute little reader”. It reminded me of a visit I was forced to make to a urologist recently. Come to think of it, that was a plumbing problem.
Scott Griffiths was, amongst other things, looking for people who had something written down on the “back of a fag packet” Given the imminent removal of the manufacturers name from said fag packet there should be more room in the future for the recording of bright business ideas.
James Henshaw was our worthy Oscar winner comparing the lottery with insurance products, thereby putting insurance products in a good light.
The 10 minute presentation showcased Adam Hotson’s accountancy business……don’t forget the party opening gambit!!
A good referrals round brought the meeting to a close. Please feel free to comment on this blog or the meeting or anything….even Nige Kirby’s shorts!!!!
An excellent presentation from Adam and I look forward to passing him more business. A very good meeting. Lets try and get some more visitors for next week.
Thanks Paul, an enjoyable meeting as usual. I look forward to seeing what shorts Nigel brings with him next week. I had a very useful meeting with Stuart Oldham today and look forward to using his services in the near future.
Good meeting, well done Adam for a good 10 minutes and well done to Jim for winning the virtual Oscar.
I can feel the energy building.
Jim, if you want your plumbing to remain in good working order don’t forget Nige’s bottle next week!
Nigel’s bottle all in hand (I thought his shorts were rather fetching). Mike’s a Mortgage Broker – I’m the insurance man!
