28 in all including two visitors were in attendance today, best ever virtual numbers.
The Performance League
Week 2 and Paul Dulieu is out front with 270 points
Education Presentation
It was Ben Golding himself delivering the wisdom today. His subject was our mindset in Lockdown….be positive. He reminded us of the Spanish flu…not Ben himself that is. This virus had a similar effect to Covid minus the Zoom. You should strive to be the best version of yourself. Don’t forget to wash and shave!!!
Membership Matters
Terry Maylin reminded us that being the best version of an EBF member includes trying to get visitors along to our weekly meeting. Take the time to review our membership categories and invite likely candidates.
The 60 Second Round
Nick Cooke was in quacking form. His problems with technology created Daffy Duck imitations that will live with lots of us for some time to come. Come back and do it again please Nick.
There was a Christmassy feel to some of the members contributions. Simon Essex showed us all his festive baubles. Vincent Goode was peddling his Christmas cards and Tina Walker is always there to help businesses who in their own Christmassy way are snowed under.
Sarah Bell explained the ACT part of Autism Act is in fact an acronym: Advice Consultancy and Training. Colin O’Connor’s piece was redolent with Acronyms and Initialisations which no one understood. The point being that you need him to unravel Health and Safety jargon. However without either Acronym or Initialisations Terry Maylin explained why you need him to unravel the mysteries of Personal Injury (PI) and Landlord and Tenant(L&T) matters.
Paul Dulieu got a mention by both Mason Edwards and Kieron Peaty for whom he has written very effective copy. It was therefore no surprise that he won the Oscar by advising a new client to take a deep breath and approach things in a measured way.
Meeting Secretaries Report
Scott Griffiths confirmed that last month £40,000 worth of business was recorded and there were 66 referrals
10-minute presentation by Stuart Smallcombe
This is a part of the meeting that just keeps on giving. This week Stuart Smallcombe’s visual presentations made a lot of us understand our broadband connection for the first time. So well put together was it that only one question afterwards reflected the clarity and quality of the presentation.
Referrals and Testimonials Round
This was efficiently dealt with and the meeting concluded at 9 am despite the numbers.
Great meeting!!!
Is Papa Smurf coming back next week?
It was a definitely a Paul Dulieu morning! Leading the Performance League, mentioned by two members and winning the Oscar!!
Great Ed Slot from Ben and a polished performance from Stuart in his 10 minutes.
See y’all next week
Great numbers at the meeting and a really positive vibe despite the difficult times we are all dealing with. Excellent 10 minutes Stuart, very clear about the subject and lovely to see a couple of guests.
A cracking presentation from Stuart. Good to finally understand what it all means. And I always thought it was 42. Good to see 28 faces on my screen, and well done to Toby for growing your tooth back. Happy Printmas Everyone!
A great attendance including two welcome visitors. A typically informative 10 minutes from Stuart and a timely ed slot from Ben Ben. Well done Paul the younger for sprinting to the top of the leader board. See ya next week.
I always come away from EBF meetings feeling positive, but knowing clients are happy with the work I do for them, seeing my name at the top of the performance league (albeit there are a few weeks still to go) and being awarded the Oscar, really put a spring in my step! Thanks to Ben Ben for a really good Ed slot and Stuart for an equally educational and informative 10 minutes. Have a cracking week, one and all. See you next week!
Stuart – Sorry I had to leave before your presentation. Let me put it on record though that I love our new VOIP phone system!
Thanks Howard
Lovely to see such a good turn out this week. Thanks for your comments on my presentation, here’s the link to the blog I mentioned.

A very positive meeting all round for turnout, visitors and business recorded. I like Ben Ben’s positive “Ed Slot” and the informative 10mts from Stuart but must take my hat off to Paul D. for the positive feedback and being “top of the world, Ma” (Brian might know what that’s from).
PS: I didn’t think that Toby was that young Vince.
Another great meeting . Stuart’s ten minute presentation was very informative. I can highly recommend him and his team We have used on project in the past and they are excellent with another project on the way to them soon. Bens was very positive an upbeat. See you all Thursday
Great ed slot Ben and as always a great 10 minutes Stuart with plenty of banter – see you all Thursday
