Apologies from Adam Hotson left a total of eight in attendance including guest Ian Douglas who made clear his intention of joining us and was duly approved in the following committee meeting. We look forward to inducting him as a member.
Jim Henshaw is way out front in the Performance League with only a week to go. This has been largely achieved by his hard work in chasing up and getting visitors to the meetings over the last few weeks, therefore well deserved.
Nige Kirby’s Ed Slot was different this week, his message was to be positive and cheerful in all of your business dealings. It is often the positive attitude that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy in advancing your business, in particular how it looks to the outside. A very good thoughtful Ed Slot which led us into the 60 second round. Everybody was on notice to listen especially careful to the 60 second presentations because the 10 minute slot was to be replaced a Q & A session.
As always Robert Mayes led off the round. It will remain to be seen whether his realisation that this is because he was last in will make any difference to his turn up time in future weeks. In the event he set the scene very well by emphasising the importance of valuing the work that we all do and in getting this over to our potential customers/clients. But for the fact that he was awarding the Oscar, this performance probably deserved the Oscar. Learning about each other’s skills and respecting each other’s abilities will help us promote our fellow members and make referrals both more justified and easier to make. This approach was mirrored in other 60 seconds that followed and indeed the 10 minute Q & A.
Despite our low numbers this was one of the best meetings I can remember. Several of us were given the opportunity of explaining in more detail what we did and in particular in answering questions passing on useful information for referral purposes.
If anyone had any doubt as to the potential of our group to expand and move forward, today’s meeting would have dispelled this. We are producing an effective core of members that should start to be able to make good referrals for each other and be a basis for the group to grow.
I hope everybody else felt suitably encouraged.
The committee meeting that followed discussed the importance of maintaining the flow of visitors and targeting visitors who have been, but have not returned. All of this will be revealed by Jim next week.
I look forward to seeing you all then.
The Q & A session was very useful and could be an item perhaps every 6 to 8 weeks especially if all members are charged with asking at least one question.
sounds like a lively meeting!!
I agree with both Aidan and Brian. Very enjoyable and productive – Nige kicked off with good constructive advice with the informative question and answer session afterwards.
Good meeting,if there are any subjects you would like me to deal with in the education slot please let me know,it is difficult finding things to talk about that we haven’t already covered. Homework for you!
Hello all just letting you know I popped in to Ye Old Plough on my way home and they can accommodate
our requirement, but earliest start time is 6.30. The person I saw is going to get the manager to email me
with some prices.
Thanks Robert
