The meeting started somewhat normally, with Brian Painter doing a grand job of Chairing the meeting. His only notable exclusion was informing every one that he celebrated International Womens’ Day yesterday in great style by allowing his wife ‘out of the kitchen’, well at least that is what he told Jill Willis.
There was a decent turnout of 23 members.
David Plumley began the education slot reminding us that is the far more professional to make recommendations with actual business cards, so members please do take the cards from the box, that is what it is there for.
The 60 Second Round
Matt Barry – proving that he can stand the test of time, and giving away his age, by showing us a logo that was 15 years old yet still relevant.
Jo Jones – Brought her own giant ball designed for lazy people to exercise whilst sitting down, an ingenious idea and piqued the interest of several members.
Jill Willis – got all interactive and by then end of her 1 minute had the crowds roaring out loud her reminder phrase “I know a good copywriter” although as someone pointed out ‘excellent’ may have been a better choice of words, so if anyone knows a good copywriter………
Howard Bullock – was extra jolly this morning because the Chancellor left pensions alone in yesterday’s budget.
Then it went all downhill, with Stuart Smallcombe, out telecoms expert, lowered the tone, muttering on about how he is “Dirty IT’ as opposed to Mr Plumley’s ‘Clever IT”. He said it was because he lifted floorboards and climbed into lofts but it did leave members wondering. This didn’t stop him winning the oscar.
Alan Moller, resident electrician, has lots of dirty jobs but isn’t looking for clever jobs, he just want clean ones.
Paul Booth and Kim Redwood-Lee brought up HMRC going digital and how business owners need to get ready. Receipt Bank is the app Kim recommended.
This weeks statistics and points of note
Scott Griffiths let us know that the EBF website is having an upgrade. Get your testimonials in and you get a link back to your website, very good for SEO. He needs ideas for FAQ’s. Very importantly member’s profiles will have the capacity for 12 gallery images. Important note here is that not only does the group have an excellent copywriter, it also has an excellent photographer and website designer.
David Plumley talked about first aid courses, anyone interested reply to his email. Nikhil Shah kindly offered space at his surgery if need be.
There were 29 new referrals passed today, and over £65,000 of recorded new business.
10 minute presentation by Jill Willis
Jill’s ten minutes was, as expected, interesting, informative, amusing, powerful, well expressed, articulate and overall excellently impressive. We even had the opportunity to stand up and pretend to be a sales funnel. Jill Willis is a woman who knows her stuff on all things copywriting and PR. In the referral round, many members noted what an asset she is to the group.
Meeting Summary
Yet again another lively meeting with many members claiming their dirty credentials. At this point, I would like to note that many things I may be, but a ‘Dirty Photographer’ is most definitely not one of them, so please don’t make any enquiries along these lines Brian.
