Chairman’s Business Networking Blog Tuesday 29th April 2014.
A really excellent turnout, 21 of our current 23 members. Apologies for absence from the 2 missing and one of our regular visitors Dean Caldon from the Brentwood Group made up 22 in all.
Before I start on the details of what went on, please Jim, I am trying to complete the leaflet that you gave out to us all before the meeting began. It is causing me great confusion. I am trying to get everything to add up to £461.50. Can you give me any guidance? I think I will be selective.
Nige Kirby handed over the Ed Slot to Brian Painter who told of 2 monks who, on reaching a stream where there stood a nubile young wench, explored the meaning of chastity. The old and wise monk, who lifted the young lady to safety before continuing with his walk, is still waiting to hear whether the CPS feels there is enough evidence to prosecute,. The message is quite plain, if you must help young ladies cross streams make sure there are no witnesses when you do it. This of course set us up for the 60 second round that was to follow; it’s sort of a warm up act!
In fact this 60 second round was characterised by who was doing what, rather than what was said.
Hugo was juggling with a lot of things including the bell, Christine Arnold and Anne Clarke were assertive with him and he did what he was told.
Tip of the week, if you are setting up a business as a franchisee do it as a limited company. Thanks for that Adam.
Having exhausted himself with the tale of 2 monks Brian Painter was in reminiscing mood, reminding us of thumb sucking, hair pulling through teeth and failure to orgasm. The difficulty in finding such clients for him is you have to sort of ask whether they have any hang-ups and sometimes they won’t confide in you the reminiscences that Brian was rehearsing with us. Still, like the proverbial description of an elephant… you should know one when you see one.
My apologies to Ian Nicholson for missing him out amidst all the excitement but he did finish up with star billing and he encouraged us to review our pension arrangements. Previous weeks his clients have found their nest eggs to be bigger than anticipated. This week we must be vigilant in relation to underperformers.
See Ian…being left out initially often gets you special treatment, my reward will no doubt be in heaven.
Brian Painter, in on the act again, was adjudicating the Oscar. He quite rightly rewarded success; Stuart Sinclair was the recipient having just completed the 2 biggest additions of hiss magazine in Billericay and Rayleigh respectively to date.
So what other things happened in the meeting?
The performance league is in its last week. Remember next month 1 2 1’s and Synergy Team attendance will get you double points.
Nige Kirby produced the 10 minute presentation.
Plumbing is apparently in the blood and he produced an axiom which will form my quiz of the week. During his presentation Nigel said the following “if its got a pipe going to it I can; fix it, [?] it or service it. What is the missing word?
The upshot of it all is we have plumber who has all the experience in the world that should make referrals very comfortable for all of us to make.
On the question of referrals, there were 14 this week. The referral level is gradually increasing which in due course will reflect in the monies recorded.
I look forward to seeing you all next week.
Aidan I forgive you as you were distracted by our two forceful ladies!. (not forgetting Vivienne with her early morning Aerobic session)…and on the subject of ladies I’m sure I’m not the only one to think that Nige’s lovely daughters got their genes from Wife No 1! Super meeting, and we all seemed refreshed. Looking forward to next weeks Synergy meetings at Stuarts second home!
Have a good week all…..and remember to check your pensions!!! :o)
Ian
Install was the missing word. Also I have lost about 6lbs on my diet
Surely Nige shouldn’t be allowed to answer his own quiz question :o)
You’re quite right Jim, I was sort of hoping someone else might remember!
…..can’t get the staff!
Brian, you might consider a side line in teaming up with Aidan as comic writers. Don’t forget to fill your forms in!
Great meeting once again. Ian – the Synergy meeting is confirmed and booked in for Wednesday 7th May at the Railway Billericay – my ‘second’ home.
The quiz answer is: “if its got a pipe going to it I can; fix it, INSTALL it or service it” (thanks Nige)
Jim – form is all filled in and will be returned for the next meeting.
and for anyone who isn’t ‘friends’ with Nige on facebook, you’re in for a funny story next Tuesday!
Have a great rest of week y’all!
I thought the missing word was “hit.”
Did I tell you the story about the two Nuns who were walking through the forest and saw two Monks and one Nun said to the other “the last time we saw those two benedictus.”
