Problems with the automatic gates at the entrance to our venue ensured that people turned up in groups with gaps in-between. Nothing daunted 21 members and 1 visitor were involved in pre-meeting networking. As to the meeting itself:
The Performance League
Matt Barry (Dave) is in the lead with 180 points. It looks as if he’ll take some catching.
Education Presentation
Stuart Smallcombe gave us a mini lecture on the Eisenhower Matrix. As you would expect, a World War 2 general and a President of the United States was bound to come up with something clever. It was all to do with the listing what needs to be done in a day. Rather than just write them down, create 4 boxes numbered 1,2,3 & 4 and bearing in mind the relative urgency and importance of the tasks, you put your reminder in the appropriate box. Which is great, provided you don’t spend the whole morning doing it. As always Stuart is stimulating when the deals with the Ed Slot.
The 60 Second Round
Matters Sartorial.
I am bound to record that there were more men than last week exhibiting their feet in various stages of nakedness, not only sandals, shoes worn without socks!! No painted toe nails however.
The School of Whimsey.
As far as this week is concerned, the School of Whimsey was effectively unrepresented. Nick Cooke and Allan Moller were missing. Alan Shaw, no doubt inspired by his Oscar victory last week and the responsibility of awarding it this week, simply told us what he did, how he did it and why people should be referred to him. Nothing wrong with that you might say… but it’s not whimsey. Brian Painter struggled manfully to hold the Whimsey end up; a girl called Charlie who could not eat vegetables! Of course it was traced back to childhood, a father declared very illustratively that he did not like veg. She now looks on vegetables as if they were fish and chips. Her approach will no doubt ultimately prove fully justified when she finds bones.
The Naughty Corner
With Howard Bullock absent and Stuart Smallcombe and Dean Caldon being involved in various meeting duties there was no real naughtiness.
From the above you might think it was a pretty average meeting but it was in fact better than that. Syd Barrett amongst other things had been involved with advising a chicken shop and an hotel which did not need a staircase.
Richard Reed is trying to win people over with post card blogs. My suggestion is that, whether Richard has organised our next holiday or not, we should all send him a post card.
David Plumley talked about problems that you can come across with your IT. His first advice was to avoid and his second was to remedy. You won’t be surprised to learn that he can do both.
Its always nice to see a 60 second presentation bear fruit. Stuart Smallcombe was selling dash cam sims, particularly useful for transport and logistics companies. This form of business mobile phone produced a couple of responses in the referrals and testimonials round that might well bear fruit.
Tina Walker, working in London had the pleasure of seeing the Trump Balloon. It apparently darkened the sky like a yellow bulbous blob which is as it should be.
By the way, Vincent Goode’s roll up banners cost £ 79.99p.
The Oscar was awarded to a member who set the 60 second round alight with a rousing rendition that was very “Howard Keel”, as to how good Utility Warehouse is. A great effort was rightly awarded the Oscar.

10-minute presentation by Paul Booth
It was the turn of Paul Booth who introduced a questionnaire and asked questions that none of us could answer. He did, however, give an intro into the sort of world he moves in and stimulated lots of questions. Well done Paul for something different.
What a brilliant performance Ben- much better than the illuminated pig, very interesting 10 minutes Paul and all told a great meeting!
I would like to clarify that EBF members benefit from a special discount for Rollerbanners – £79.98. Limited time only, terms and conditions apply. See instore for details. Your home could be at risk if you do not keep up payments. No purchase necessary.
I’m sure you said £7.98 for members Vince and there were a lot of witnesses!!!
slip of the tongue mate, at least you undid the top button of your shirt, it was making me feel claustrophic!
Great meeting everyone, and a fun 10 minutes from Paul too. Yep i said accountant and fun in the same sentence.
Ben… it takes a brave person to do that, well done and good voice too !
Who knew accounting could be so much fun!
Looks like I missed a good meeting again, have a lovely weekend all and hopefully be seeing you all next week 🙂
Excellent meeting!
Ben…, wow, what a voice, I wonder what other hidden talents we have amongst us?
Great 10 minute Paul, maybe a few questions on sport & music next time and I might fair a little better!
Hilarious meeting this week folks 😉 Also some seriously impressive numbers in terms of referrals and business passed! Be great to keep the momentum up through the (often) slower summer.
Apart from the difficulties in actually getting past the gate the meeting was yet another good ‘un.
Ben sung his 60 seconds for us showing off his excellent singing voice, which pipped Anna into second place in my eyes this week, and Paul made a 10minute session on accounting funny!!
As for the postcards, they should only be genuine ones from those that have actually travelled with Prestige please – but if you didn’t send one then a belated one now and/or testimonial or blog to my business web or Facebook page would be very welcome.
Sounds like i missed a goodun!, sorry i couldn’t make it, looking forward to seeing you all next week, Have a great weekend all
I must say it was a brilliant meeting the performance from Ben deserved a standing ovation, bravo 👏
Paul made accounting fun indeed with a fantastic presentation.
Vincent I’ll have five of those banners for £7.98 many thanks.
See everyone next week.
Pretty darn good effort, Ben. If the Utility Whorehouse is half as good as your voice we’d be foolish not to sign up.My weekend has now started, pass the scotch!
